Dean: Bush camp will ‘take Perry out’
The Hill ^ | Wednesday August 17, 2011 | Daniel Strauss

Posted on 08/17/2011 6:33:52 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean predicted that prominent political supporters of former President George W. Bush will deal a critical blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) presidential campaign.

“The Bush people don’t fool around, as you know,” Dean said Tuesday night on MSNBC. “You can say a lot of things about Bush’s presidency and his failures as president, but one thing nobody should say [anything] bad about [is] his political team. They know what they’re doing, and they are ruthless, and they are going to take Perry out.”

Dean’s comments come as a number of former Bush administration operatives have criticized recent comments Perry has made. Political strategist and Bush adviser Karl Rove said comments Perry made about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke were not “a presidential statement.”

[...]

The readiness of Rove and other former Bush administration officials to criticize Perry illustrates a longstanding rift between the camps of the two Texas politicians.

The scream machine is wishing for this I think. Any time a Democrat offers advice to the GOP or predicts internal GOP fratricide, it is not for the benefit of the GOP.

Nice try Howie but no cigar!

Great! Let them come out swinging! It will just prove that Perry is not Bush redux!

Of course this won’t happen...

Rove is already on the clock. This could be a good thing for Perry, Bush was very unpopular at the end. Perry could run as a new refreshing candidate and platform, not another Bush Texan.

The one thing you have to give Debbie Wasserman Schultz credit - there aren't many people who can make Howard Dean look good. It takes a special person to do that.

Dr. Dean, I understand that you believe everyone is as self-centered, and shortsighted as you.

That is why you are a democrat.

President Bush actually loves this country more than himself. That means that he knows our current President is the single worst in the history of the Republic.

You honestly think that President Bush would allow his personal dislike of Gov. Perry to trump what would be a better choice for our nation?

Dr. Dean, you don't know George W. Bush very well - despite the vile things you and your pals have said about him for years.

Why would Bush’s people care one way or another about Perry? Unless, of course, they’re planning a late entry for Jeb.

I saw Perry’s remarks and Rove’s response. I actually thought that Perry’s remarks were pretty tame. He said that Texans are not carbon copies, and you can sum up the difference by the fact that Bush went to Yale and he went to A&M. So why was that remark below the belt? I don’t know but Rove thought it was. My thought was that Perry was trying to distance himself from Bush, and Rove was helping him do it. I would have been satisfied with that explanation except that I heard the rumor that Jeb was trying to persuade Ryan to run, which would obviously be bad for Perry and help Romney. I suppose that you could say Jeb is also trying to help Perry distance himself. I don’t think Ryan is going to run in any event, so maybe it’s all just scripted. Or maybe the bad blood really is as bad as Rove made it appear.

Rick continues to make all the right people angry / nervous.

I think the Obammy camp knows that unless they are able to destroy him right now, he will be our next President.

Hmmm...

Sorry...but I don't like Rove...and I have not one bone of envy in my body towards him.

I don't like him because he was a big government-spend money RINO and advised GWB down that road. I call him an elitist because he is in that "good 'ol boy" GOP club...and if you don't think he is...you are kidding yourself. He doesn't think people like Perry...or Bachman...or Palin...or any of that crowd need be there. It's reserved for Rockefeller Republicans. He's more interested in keeping up the pretenses of the "game" between Team R and Team D than actually detroying LIBERALS.

That is a FACT and THAT's why he's an elist.

Funny how we differ on this. I see that “club” as most interested in electing a republican and nominating one who will get elected, like Buckley’s famous quote. I don’t think we need a big schism in the loyal opposition now what with the alternative of destruction of this country with a second Obama term, but that is me.
