It seems to me that every thread about any candidate, becomes more about Sarah Palin than the candidate the thread started with.

Notwithstanding, there are some excellent comments and analysis on this thread. You just have to ignore the more sophomoric posts.

Just because you haven't payed attention to the personal fight between Perry and Obama as executives doesn't mean it wasn't happening.

If we never hear another word from Palin, Perry will still win the nomination and the general.

To assume Perry needs Palin is wishful thinking but Palin is a team player and she likes and respects Perry. She of course will endorse him and her followers can give her credit for pushing him over the line.

Right now, today, Perry is attacking Obama and Palin is in Alaska. In two weeks Perry will have secured the majority of conservative votes in the Republican party and Mitt will have the centrist vote. Palin waited too long and Perry stole her thunder.

When someone of the stature of Perry says the word treason people as hell better listen. Not just Geithner but also Holder, Bernake and the whole lot of this regime. Perry is taking a bull horn and repeating what millions of Americans are also saying (in privacy). The Rats and the state-controled media are going to be all over this becuase they know what this means. This could be the powder keg that ignites a full blown revolution against the communist democrat party once and for all.

To you sir, I will follow you into battle anytime and anyplace.

The genuine way that Sarah speaks, her character that shines out in those 15,000 emails, contradicts the notion that she is governed by cynical calculation.

In your post you imply that she was hoping to fill a vacuum in the field of republican candidates.

What if she means what he said?

Perhaps she is more interested in what’s best for the country than any personal ambition. If you accept what she is saying at face value you get the sense that she wants as many strong conservative candidates as possible to run because that would be best for the country.

Unless Perry is pro-abortion she would happily throw her support to him if she felt Perry would be good for the country.

I love and admire Sarah Palin immensely and think she would be a fine president but her role as party leader and kingmaker may be what she decides to limit herself to, FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY”

To characterize her the way you just did I feel misses her intrinsic goodness. Instead you ascribe cynical motives to her actions.

Pistols at dawn sir!

That bears repeating - loud and often - from a rooftop.

....“I don’t think the federal government has a role in your children’s education,” Perry said, adding, “The federal government has no business telling you how to educate your children. They have intruded into so many different areas in our lives and that’s one of the things that I hope to be able to do, working with Congress, trying to make Washington, as I said, as inconsequential in your lives as we can.”....

Well I think we know what he thinks of President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" initiative.

The best is yet to come.

Exactly...and if not, than I shall vote AGAINST the stain and his regime next November. And that's for sure and for certain.

If that is, in fact, what Sarah Palin is doing then great. But as of right now, she is not a contender in this race. IF and when she decides to throw her hat into the ring then she will be a strong consideration and will most likely poll in the top three. BUT, not until that time comes.

Name the damage, name the negatives.

Seriously? What would that accomplish? Anyone who's reading this probably remembers something about Palin and the media. Something.. uhh, ..., gosh, what was it? Ohhhh, yeah. Remember back when media launched an orchestrated digital lynch mob which turned Palin into a ridiculous cartoon monster and subjected her and her family to unprecedented slander, frivolous lawsuits, dumpster diving scrutiny, harassment, death threats and general malice?

That did some damage to her viability as a candidate.

Obviously, I'm not saying it's fair. If they had given a quarter of the treatment to Obama they had her, he'd be hiding in an island hut in Indonesia right now, waking up in a cold sweat every time he heard footsteps, afraid someone with a camera might wander by asking for an interview.

But be real. I realize that polls are often slanted this way or that, but I've never seen nor heard of anything that indicates the media failed in their goal to marginalize Palin as a political threat. Palin's made a steady comeback, but only after being reduced to a national laughingstock. As to the specific details, I can't really say that I see the value in dredging up each particular point of each injury.

But as of right now, she is not a contender in this race.

Tho not an official contender, she does influence the race. Tho not an official contender, she polls high in most choice sets for the nomination. No other person on the national stage...not one....has this kind of draw.

In the event Mrs. Palin does not run, I will vote AGAINST the stain and his regime come next November. That's for sure and for certain.

3) Palin accepts a VP slot from Perry?

LOL! Dream on - that will NOT happen. You don't really know Sarah so it's best if you keep your 'what if's' for Perry alone. And get new 'what if's' - all you fearfully SARAH will run have overused them.

It is very American to back a candidate passionately, but Palin is still not even a declared candidate.

I see by your post you are backing a candidate passionately - so stay OUT of who I decide to back - whether the person is in the race currently or not.

Conservatives have had their hearts broken before, backing *True Conservatives* who ended up compromising “for the good of the country”.

Well then conservatives better be careful who they support. - Not that I think you are a conservative by any means - but I don't think your heart could take it reading your posts here and your dedication and PASSION to shed a negative light on CONSERVATIVE SARAH - a KNOWN fighter for our freedoms and a loyal supporter of conservative candidates running for office because of your passion for Perry.

The good of our country is to have it restored. Not a vote for someone simply to win. That would be compromise.

I know the Palin supporters are convinced she will pull off a miracle,

Do you think Perry - who is seen as a RINO - will NOT need a miracle? His miracle will come from SARAH for her endorsement and to campaign with him if she doesn't run. So shove your miracle sarcasm up your 'not so well informed but full of Perry passion' butt and then sit down!

I'm certain that Palin has a lot of intrinsic goodness. Perhaps due to my own lack of intrinsic goodness, but I generally don't factor that column in during political analysis. At their base elements, politicians are either assets for protecting freedom and prosperity or threats against it, and that's pretty much the only scale I weigh them on.

Furthermore, to a certain degree, I admire a bit of tactical cynicism on their part. Shows that their heart is in the game.

Just because she's a nice person doesn't mean she can't be a clever politician. ;-)

Unless it's just your version of the truth.

I can see that this presidential campaign at FR is going to be the same as the last one-- ugly. At least we don't have to put up with Pissant. Or, do we?

EVERY candidate is hoping she will not run because the one candidate she does endorse is the winner - hands down.

EVERYONE knows that - and that says the POWER SARAH has.

I just hope she uses her power for herself this time. As a private citizen she has been helping them all because of her servant’s heart. We can thank her for her contribution to the success of 2010. ALL done on HER OWN TIME and sacrifice because of her love for this country. Politicians are all about themselves, SARAH is not. Her focus is on our country. She doesn’t back stab but some politicians have no problem doing it to her.
