Hubble Deep Space Images

This is a video of two deep space experiments using the Hubble space telescope. First, Hubble was pointed to a "dark" spot in space and left to collect data for 10 days to see if anything was there. The second is to use this data and the Red Shift to create a 3D image. The result is presented here. To me, pretty amazing stuff.

If you have trouble wrapping your head around the concept of infinity and a universe that is expanding "into something", welcome to my world...

The Hubble site itself has zoomable images. http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/1996/01

Ever since taking college level physics and learning the time travel is impossible and traveling at the speed of light is impossible(infinite mass thing) I lost interest in the cosmos. Even if something ( a space ship) could travel at the speed of light if it ever collided with the smallest speck of dust it would explode. It just ain’t happening. The human species will always remain here, stuck on the third rock from the sun. Forget about it.

It wasn’t till the 1930s that we found that the universe consisted of more than just our galaxy. Its entirely possible that we’ll one day find that our universe is one of many that are part of something more.

You’re talking about mass moving through time and space.

Gotta think outside the box.

Somehow - SOMEHOW! - time is an illusion. Everything and everyplace that ever existed or will exist is here right now at our fingertips.

"The human species will always remain here, stuck on the third rock from the sun. Forget about it."

Not likely.I know eye has not seen nor ear heard those things that God has in store for those who love Him but I can't help looking at images like those and thinking...one day.

Then please explain how heroes like Shirley Maclaine and other Hollywood stars make it back and forth between Earth and Gorlon? Wouldja?

I agree that it will need to be another way. Faster than light speed even if possible would be useless due to the fact that it would be a one way trip because of relativity.

Give it up. The laws of physics says we ain't going anywhere. Besides mathematically we are alone in the universe. Read the Fermi Paradox.

Hey! This can’t be! The Left says there Ain’t NO GOD! This all happened from a BIG Bang from Nothing! And that every beautiful living creation just evolved from nothing! BullCrap!

When I read and understood Bells theorem, that stuned me.

It’s not just the non-locality of space that’s the result. It also applies to non-locality of time.

You could wake up, go out to get the paper and have a pterodactyl on you front porch.

It’s not likely. But it is possible.

Makes the creator a whole heap larger than those "born againers" would have us believe.

I'm all for "big".... REALLY REALLY B I G !!!

I have degrees in Physics and Mathematics and I’m here to tell you that you didn’t learn enough. Time and space can be bent (any gravity well). Worm holes are nearly a mathematical certainty. You don’t have to travel faster than the speed of light to travel light years in short time spans.

you are assuming we know all there is to know about space travel?

What if Bob Lazaar was right (I am only half joking about that) about a gravity propulsion drive?

You point it where you want to go and create a wormhole that takes you there immediately

“Mind travel”....imagination explosions. It’s all in their brain....while asleep...they never leave the ground at all. But they imagine they do.

Imagine if all our dreams and imaginations of our minds we spread as reality.

I’m having trouble with the whole big bang thing with this. Why for instance, if the bang went off 13 billion years ago, can you not see the edge of the universe at about 7 billion light years out? How did these galaxys get so far out after only 1/2 billion years?
On the other hand, is this now enough matter to support the bang?
I think we are looking at creation, not science.

It still boggles my mind that all of this began as a Singularity...a single, dimensionless point in time and space...and expanded into what we see today. Given that we know the universe is still expanding, what’s it expanding into? I’m not smart enough to understand this.

Everything that has mass, you included, cannot travel at the speed of light. There are people who believe in faulty physics and that one day inter stellar travel will be possible. The constraints of the human condition will not allow that. SOme can't accept that.

The alchemist has a better chance of reaching his goals.
