Ron Paul or certified RINOs, whom would you prefer? (vanity)

Posted on 08/13/2011 1:26:27 PM PDT by JimWayne

After yesterday's spurt in talk radio about Ron Paul, I've been thinking about his positions. I oppose Ron Paul on Foreign Policy (especially his position ignoring the threat of Islam taking over our policy), but have to seriously wonder about supporting some of the other candidates who have not faced opposition.

Ron Paul gets a lot of flak, but why do the others get away with cheating us for doing far worse than what Ron Paul promises to do to Israel? Many candidates like Rick Santorum, George Allen and Joe Barton have hijacked the label of conservative, but are less conservative than even Ron Paul. They support raising debt to infinite levels, deficit funding, support for Islamic regimes like Pakistan, nationalized healthcare (they did not oppose Romneycare), have wishy-washy positions on abortion, and say one thing during the elections while ganging up with the liberals right after the elections.

The second thought in my mind is about Israel. Why are we so obsessed about Israel when the Jewish people seem to vote for the RATs? I think Islam is more dangerous and if we pull the aid from both Palestine and Israel, Israel will win, but this is a situation I don't really feel strongly about. There are much bigger problems at home and my wealth is depleting not merely due to Obama and other Dims, but the RINOs and neocons who have ganged up with the liberals over the years.

These RINOs do not support us but expect our support unconditionally. They even opposed the TEA Party candidates but suddenly claim that they themselves are part of the TEA Party.

So my question to you is why should we give a free pass to the RINOs? Shouldn't we hold them to the same standards we hold Ron Paul to? I can already hear that Ron Paul is a kook, but that is not the question. The question is whether others like Santorum and George Allen aren't worse than being a kook and why should we support them? The other question is why Israel is so important that my savings should be used for them. Shouldn't they take care of themselves?

Ron Paul = Certified RINO so what is the question. Heck I think if you asked Paul he might well say he is not a Republican.

If Ron Paul were the candidate, Obama is the next president and if another Mclame/McRommney is the candidate Obama is the next president.

He tells his supporters that the only reason he has an R next to his name is because it’s easier to win that way. He’ll tell you to run with a D next to your name if you think that is more likely to lead to victory.

In a certain sense, I agree with this sentiment. I’m more loyal to conservatism than I am to the Republican Party. However, so long as I’m a Republican, I’ll be a loyal one.

Ron Paul is the cooky uncle you invite over to dinner because you have to and he can be amusing for about half an hour.

He is not going to win the Presidency.

I am starting to like the idea of Perry/Santorum.

No, the question is not about Paul. It is why others get a free pass and are not held to the same standard as Paul.

If you really oppose terrorism, you should oppose candidates who support Islamic regimes. If you really oppose baby-killing, you should oppose candidates who triangulate their position on baby-killing. And if you really oppose Global Warming, you should oppose those who subsidize ethanol. The question is why don’t I see this happen.

I do agree that Ron Paul has no chance of winning, but the same is true for Herman Cain.

Ron Paul is such a kook on things foreign policy and finding the "truth" about 9-11 that there really isn't any reason to take him particularly seriously on anything. The guy just disqualifies himself when he won't even distance himself from the Alex Jones, 9-11 truther conspiracy crowd.

I am starting to like the idea of Perry/Santorum.

Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are the only good candidates. Perry and Santorum are RINOs. Perry got Texas into a deficit and Santorum supports ethanol subsidies and supported Arlen Specter. Santorum is a fraud and worse than Ron Paul.

Santorum doesn't believe in the 10th amendment... he spent the entire debate bashing local government.

He is the same guy who brought us No Child Left Behind.

Santorum hates homeschooling or anything that allows people more choice.

No thanks.

The other question is why Israel is so important that my savings should be used for them. Shouldn't they take care of themselves

I often wonder why people obsess about the 2 billion we send to Israel (which is essentially just a subsidy to our weapons industry), but they're silent on the staggering amount of aid we provide to the rest of the world.

We spend between six and seven hundred billion dollars a year to keep China from invading their neighbors or cutting off sea lanes, Russia from rolling into Europe, North Korea from unleashing hell on Seoul, or Iran from blockading the Straits of Hormuz. That's not just for our benefit, that's for the benefit of the rest of the world.

We spend 50 billion a year on benefits and services to illegal aliens. How much do we spend on welfare or food stamps for people who are members of America's "leisure class"?

Yet people keep bringing up Israel... kinda makes you wonder what the obsession is...

You are missing the point. This is not about Ron Paul, but about others who are WORSE than Ron Paul. I used Ron Paul merely to show how bad some of the others are (i.e., even worse than Ron Paul). Rick Santorum is a RINO who is worse than Ron Paul. He will support terrorism, has supported Global Warming policies and supported Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey. Anyone who supports Rick Santorum is a fool.

Herman Cain still has a possible future in politics, he is new, this race could have meaning for him.

Paul was never able to win anything out of his safe district and that became clear many years ago, nonetheless, the guy still rakes in the millions for his perennial campaigner lifestyle.

I oppose all aid and mentioned that if the government pulled the plug on Palestine as well, Israel will win. To answer your question on why the aid to Israel generates more focus, it is probably because the Jewish people vote the Democrats into power.

There is no difference between the two parties, so ina sense he is correct. Conservatives need to understand that Republican does not equal conservative, or we’ll keep getting the RINO’s, who aren’t really RINO’s at all, but just the average Republican.

Mitt Romeny, Rick Perry, Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, John Huntsman, and Newt Gingrich. This field is a cruel joke.

None of these clowns have any clue about how serious a job being the next POTUS is going to be. They are just a bunch ambitious politicians who want the prestige of being the President. They have no clue or plan for this country.

Serious work has to be done and these people don’t have it in them. They will inherit three wars, a massive debt that can’t be repaid, high unemployment, huge racial tension flash mobs ,a nation that is either on the verge or already has collapsed. This is no time for substandard leadership.

The only one I could consider right now is Herman Cain, and the best I can do is consider him at this point.

If this field is the best America has to offer, then we are done for. Democrats, RINO’s and Compassionate Conservatives are not an option. I might as well put a gun to my head now and spare myself of the agony that is about to come if 0bama gets reelected or one of these morons becomes President.

I’m no fan of Santorum, either; anybody who gets plastered the way did by a dope like Casey should write “the end” to his political career. But where did I miss his opposition to home schooling, as I believe he , or his wife, homeschooled their own? As a matter of fact they billed the government for some”cyber school,” as I recall, and the opposition research went into overdrive on it.

I agree with Libertarians economically but not politically. It's amazing how Paul can be generally so good on economic issues and go off the deep end in foreign policy by expressly and implicitly blaming America for 9/11 and not acknowledging it as an act of war needing full force response. He also fails to acknowledge the Jihadist threat as also needing full alert and response both internally and externally.

Whether we've implemented the best means of dealing with these attacks and threats is another issue. But Paul's arbitrary blindfolded foreign policy has completely marginalized him as a viable candidate IMO. I guess if I had to choose between Paul or a RINO - tough choice - at least with Paul you know what you're getting. I also think Paul has most of the right answers to fix the economy (given some kind of Congressional cooperation).

No.

We should all take him very seriously on economics. He's the best-informed Congressman and the only informed candidate. I would like very much to see him as Sec'y. of the Treasury or Fed Chairman. That, to paraphrase Steve Martin, is his special purpose.
