I don’t personally have military or combat experience. But would say an order , or an action, is also based on making a judgment call, at a point in time. Or under specific circumstances.
The Australians overpowered the Iranians because they established the high ground, and, more importantly, made the right move.
According to BBC (link in #27):
“The circumstances for the Britons in March were slightly different in that they were caught so much by surprise that, had they attempted to repel the Iranians with their limited firepower, they would doubtless have taken very heavy casualties.
But military sources say that what is of concern is that the Royal Navy did not appear to have taken sufficient account of the lessons of the Australian encounter.”
Why couldn't they just wait for the price to come down like I did?
move = moves
The behavior of the British sailors once in custody was unfortunate. Everyone knew the Iranians were lurking nearby and the services should have had a plan and communicated to the service members in the event of a provocation. If they were going to allow themselves to be taken without resistance, they should not have been there, or should have been in another occupation.
You know, there is a lot one can say about those sailors who were captured, at the time. After all, they were frontline people & visibly so, for the world to see. Their humiliation, however, through capture & thereafter, by the Iranian regime, perhaps conveyed lot more about their superiors.
There was a great deal of discussion, at the time, by the Iranian opposition, i.e. outside the current regime’s circles, as to why Britain should not continue to appease or please the Mullahs’ regime, diplomatically or otherwise - I guess that would probably apply to more than the British gov’t.
Unfortunately, even the Queen, as far as I was aware, had been advised to send, and actually, continues to send congratulatory messages to the Iranian regime, every year on the anniversary of the ‘official’ establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Why is that?
Yes, I am positive he said "vent your frustrations" just a day or two ago, during a visit to a battery factory somewhere in the rust belt. Sorry, I searched for the article but could not find it. I believe it's the same speech where he said something like "I am frustrated, you can hear it in my voice".
If I can locate the article soon, I will send you a link. His words were similar in tone to what he said early in his 'present-duncey' about how Dems should 'get in their opponents faces'.
