There is a ton of things the feds should shed to align with Article 1. Sect 8. Might as well read and interpret literally, especially on the easy things (ie: post offices), as they can be used as templates and precedents for the more complicated fantasy tasks the feds have added from thin air.
In the post office case, roads were to have been established as well. The feds have established not only roads on the ground, but in the air too. Good. Now, let them get out of the way for private enterprise - the fedex’s (ground/air) and UPS’s... and, including USPS as a private enterprise as well.

What? Postal employees have been paying SS for at least 2, maybe 3 decades. We are FERS employees, NOT civil service. There are few civil service employees left. You should know better. As for the Unions. Where do they get their power? Can’t strike. So, apparently the USPS agreed to whatever was negotiated, or an arbitrator settled the contract, under both Dem and Repub administrations. In more than 20 years I have voted on exactly 2 contracts. Every other one has been decided by arbitration. Name ANY company that is forced to prefund retiree benefits billions of dollars per year. Way more than is needed to cover their employees. Make UPS and FEDEX do the same and lets see if they turn a profit. The USPS would have shown a profit if not FORCED to make this payment. Another uninformed FR USPS bash fest from people who don’t have a clue. Like I posted before, start informing us what you do for a living so we can critique your pay, benefits, etc. Teachers, Farmers, lawyers, step on up so we can see what nobility we have on FR. All you perfect workers who work for perfest companies that receive absolutely NO gov’t assistance in any way, step to the plate!

Really, where are they now? Why don’t you step on up. There are opening all over the country for part timers. Crickets. And those that show, rarely last 6 months.

I was not referring to part time work.

I don’t need to step to the plate. I’m not going to get RIFd.

I feel for the letter carriers. It’s the mid level people I have problems with.

How about those people that used to pump gas for you? Those mid level people really screwed them over.

Can we all say, "Its Obama's Fault."

Rural carriers contribute to a 401k type retirement. If it’s cushy, it’s because they put in a lot of their own money. Unless they retired under the old system, which IS cushy. That system was dropped in the 80s.

Hmmmm.....aren’t most postal workers unionized?

That might be part of the problem!

I also have some compact discs of music I mostly don't listen to anymore and a dog who needs walking at least twice a day as well as a wife who keeps reminding me to paint the shed and mow the grass.

It's almost like I posted that for you. I do sneak a beer in now and then while I'm stirring paint. :)
