Jon Stewart rips Newsweek's Bachmann cover

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Jon Stewart says the worst part about conservative complaints of media bias is when they contain "a kernel of truth" -- and that conservatives have a point about Newsweek's unflattering Michele Bachmann cover.

The cover describes her as "The Queen of Rage." Stewart called Newsweek out on Tuesday's "The Daily Show" for using cheap attempts to undercut the Minnesota representative and Republican presidential candidate.

He mocked the magazine's statement that it ran the photo to capture the way she has galvanized Iowa voters.

"I get it, Newsweek," Stewart said. "You put in 'The Queen of Rage' juxtaposed with a picture of a lady that appears to be enchanted by simple math being done on a blackboard that's been hung too high. Or maybe it's a child thinking of cake!.

No, Jon, it hurts more when they are completely true. It's truth that stings.

Concentrate this. Say it over and over like a mantra. Maybe you'll begin to comprehend.

OK, but it’s people like Stewart, or whatever his real name is, and his viewers that elected Zero. He should STFU!

Who really cares what this so-called extremely left-wing hack of a comedian thinks? I'm amazed at how many libtards get their opinions based on this worthless, empty suit.

This sudden, worthless outrage seems as phony as hell.

He thinks he can get Bachman on his show to help his ratings. This is like OReilly begging Obama...

Anyone who thinks Stewart may have had a moment of class--just google up "Northwestern University 2008 Jon Stewart" and watch the youtube of Stewart screaming "F--- You, Sarah Palin!" over and over. Look at his face and the raging hate. And this guy has small children!!

He's just an awful, stupid, evil SOB. Unfortunately, a lot of young people think he's Cool.

I was talking to another FReeper about the morons on Facebook who get all their news from Comedy Central. That would be like getting your news from Saturday Night Live.

I watched Stewart maybe a few minutes flipping through channels and the main thing I noticed is everything he says is based on "irony".

Remember this tool and the other guy couldn't produce a show during the writer strike because like the trash in the White House they rely on a teleprompter.

I don’t know who still reads Newsweak or Time magazine. I rarely even see them lying around anywhere. The check out lane in the supermarket is all hollyweird faces.
They are irrelevant. Anyone who does read them is already an Obama voter and probably just looks at the pictures.
Otherwise,,we need something to fill the recycle bins with.

Many miss the real problem. The media isn’t a liberal or conservative mouthpiece. They are inciters.

The media is all about creating divisive anger amongst the populace. With every percentage increase in anger and partisanship they make billions more in profit from political ads, from their pundits and eyeballs that give them more advertising. The new corporate media from Fox to CNN to Newsweek have done a huge disservice to all of us Americans because of their profit desire.

If the media was really interested in informing and making the USA a better country, they’d be exposing corruption and the crony rotten deal making that goes on with politicians of all stripes and with global interests.

I’ve never watched his show, but have seen his interviews on FOX. He does have a strong following though.

Serious question here:

Weren’t Jon Stewart and Anthony Weiner roomates once?

Anybody know if this is true?

And a lot of late baby boomers think he’s the ultimate in cool and is credible for the news.

I saw the flashes of red in his eyes on the Chris Wallace interview. It was truly scary like seeing Lord Voldemort. Without his fawning audience who laugh at every word out of his mouth, you can see the real guy.

The point isn't that Mr. Stewart is on his way to becoming a conservative, it's that people in his see position the obvious bias and are willing to joke about it. It's a step, and not a trivially small one, in the right direction. This is a flaming liberal admitting that there IS bias in the media's reporting of conservatives. It's like an alcoholic admitting to himself that he has a problem.

You’re giving him way too much credit. He has seen nothing and changed not a bit in his viewpoint.

He’s just smart enough to toss in the occasional (and usually meaningless) sop to the right to try to retain a smidgen of credibility.

Don’t be fooled by this fool.

No.
Stewart was dating Weiner’s roommate, or something like that.

The press blew it up, but Steward definitely white-washed the Weiner thing by making it more about comedy than politics. If it were reversed, he wouldn’t be complementing the Republican on his fantastic abs and youthful appearance.
