Tea Party, terrorists, pedophiles -- & the new civility
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 8/8/11 | Debra J. Saunders, Token Conservative

Last week, Jonah Goldberg wrote a fine rant against liberals who call for more civility one moment, then compare the Tea Party to -- well, not Nazis, now they compare the right to terrorists.

Tom Friedman -- who knows a bit about Hezbollah -- calls the tea partiers the "Hezbollah faction" of the GOP bent on taking the country on a "suicide mission." All over the place, conservative Republicans are "hostage takers" and "terrorists," "terrorists" and "traitors." They want to "end life as we know it on this planet," says Nancy Pelosi. They are betraying the Founders, too. Chris Matthews all but signs up for the "Make an Ass of Yourself" contest at the State Fair. Joe Nocera writes today that "the Tea Party Republicans can put aside their suicide vests." Lord knows what Krugman and Olbermann have said.

Goldberg ended his piece quite simply, "Well, go to Hell. All of you."

I am a big fan of Joe Nocera, even if I disagree with him on a number of issues. So I was glad to see that he apologized in his Saturday column:

I wrote a column comparing the Tea Party Republicans to terrorists. The words I chose were intemperate and offensive to many, and I've been roundly criticized. I was a hypocrite, the critics said, for using such language when on other occasions I've called for a more civil politics. In the cool light of day, I agree with them. I apologize.

That was nice. But here at The Chronicle, Joel Brinkley added to the vitriol in U.S. politics in a Sunday piece, "Echoes of Mideast hardliners in U.S. Republicans."

But if you want to see where Tea Party-style closed-minded intransigence assumes its ultimate heedless horror

Dear Democrat party activists in the US Junk media;

Federal Deficit as % of GDP when Bush left office: 69%

Federal Deficit as % of GDP after 3 years of Obama 97%

No amount of spin, demagoguery or out and out lying by you Democrat party bots is going to change the facts to hide your party's sole ownership of the broken US Economy.

Regardless of whether people buy into the propaganda of the democrats and the progressives the facts about the use of terrorism in American history need to be made more mainstream and fully known.

What the progressive movement and the democrat party has done now by smearing the Tea party with the terrorist label is beyond the pale considering their history. People NEED to be made aware of this history. Republicans have to stop being silent about the history. Conservatives need to stop being silent about the history of the democrat party and progressive movement.

The democrat party and the progressive movement have a long history of using terrorism in America. From the decades upon decades of the democrats and progressives using the KKK as a terrorist wing of their ideology and targeting both blacks and republicans to the numerous left-wing terrorist groups of the sixties counter culture movement that targeted Americans of all stripes, murdered police officers, judges, etc… to the environmental groups such as ELF that targeted businesses with terrorism to the homosexual activist groups that target churches to the left-wing Union thugs who target businesses as well with terrorism.

Then not to mention the fact that the democrats and progressives have been continually acting as the terrorists civil rights movement. Appeasing and giving moral support to Islamic terrorist and dictatorships throughout the world.

All of this should also be taken in with the knowledge that the democrats and progressives have fought tooth and nail to keep genocide legal with their stance on abortion.

For the democrats or the progressive movement to falsely accuse peaceful political groups such as the TEA party with a unfounded smear that they themselves are guilty of one thousand fold is the ultimate hypocrisy. Conservatives and republicans need to continually point out the hateful and terroristic history of the democrats.

The comments which follow the column at the link are both amazing in manner of their maniacal moonbattism and depressing in the depth of their deluded dipshittery.

San Francisco is truly a wacky place.

They are just trying to keep you mad and distracted so you won’t have time to concentrate on the upcoming election.

Its becoming abundantly clear that the TEA party, a grassroots movement that wants fiscal sanity restored to our government before the U.S. goes into bankruptcy, is not the vile, dangerous and demented entity that the left has tried so hard to portray. The TEA party didn't run upp the national debt into the stratosphere, Obama and the Democrats did. The TEA party isn't responsible for the SW&P downgrade of the U.S. credit rating, Obama and the Democrats are. The leftist penchant (and skill) at always finding someone other than themselves to blame when their policies inevitably fail and do harm to the nation is legendary but also becoming old and unconvincing when the facts are out there for all to see.

That the left, i.e. Obama and the Democrat party are desperately attempting to shift blame for the S&P downgrade to the TEA party is hardly a surprise. The surprise for the left is that America isn't buying it. We know who got us into this mess - Obama and his party. Although earlier administrations (Republican and Democrat) paved the way, it was Obama that run up the debt into the multi-trillions within a few short years, with basically nothing to show for it except higher unemployment and a stalled economy and now, a sinking stock market and a downgrade in the U.S. credit rating. Obama and the left will try hard to shift the blame for the economic mess we're into onto the TEA party but it won't play in Peoria. Americans are waking up to the fact that the U.S. is in big economic trouble - and that Obama put us here. In short: they own this economy.

Deb is right about everything except the Tea Party winning anything. I don't think there has been ten cents in spending cuts to date.

So far there has been no tax increase, but I wouldn't count on the next extension of the Bush tax cuts.

Better yet, compare the federal deficit of 2006 to that of 2011.

Regarding the budget deal the way I heard on the radio one liberal opion-maker put it was this:

“What we had here is a car-jacker on the one hand, and on the other a parent with a child in the car, and what we see now (cuts) is the result...”
