INDIANAPOLIS -- A teen charged in a mass shooting after Indiana Black Expo's Summer Celebration in 2010 was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in prison and two years of community corrections.

EIGHT YEARS? Granted, no one died in the shootings, but eight years for shooting NINE PEOPLE?!?

BTW, in an older story, the perp was originally potentially facing 100+ years. Hope if I ever doing anything really bad, *I* can get this kind of plea deal!

Just think. One good citizen with a handgun, and this savage villain would no longer be an issue, just a statistic, unremembered and unmourned. And the taxpayers would not have to pay for more than the occasional lawn mowing of their potter’s field.

As part of the agreement, Patton, now 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of battery, criminal recklessness, criminal gang activity and carrying a handgun without a license.
The state agreed to drop a sentencing enhancement on the criminal gang activity charge.
The plea deal dictated that the judge could sentence Patton to no more than 10 years in prison. He already has served one year in the Marion County Jail.

Disgusting. State attorney needs to be removed...with prejudice. He/She/It isn't looking out for the interests of the people or the law.

Patton was 17 when he was arrested in July 2010 on 14 adult charges connected to the shootings of nine people, all between the ages of 10 and 19.

My father always said that the only difference between murder and attempted murder is that the victim didn't die. I don't know how seriously the 9 people in this incident were wounded, but we could be talking about a multiple murder case if things had gone down a little differently.

Perfect example of just how broken the injustice system is. Every person he shot should have been an Assault 1st Degree case, and he should have gotten 25 to life for each count. Now he will be out before he is 23 and back to doing the same thing.
