Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden, 65, released his medical records Monday, detailing the treatment of two brain in 1988 and other, mostly minor medical problems.

Biden has had no subsequent aneurysms and has since undergone appropriate screening, according to Dr. Matthew Parker, a physician chosen by the campaign to address the news media. Said Parker: "Everything that was supposed to be done, is being done."

I'm not a student of medicine, but it appears a stroke and an aneurysm are two different things.

Assuming Giffords can comprehend what he said, I think she will just find it to be an endearing attempt to bond from a fellow brain surgery veteran.

Unfortunately Biden failed to understand that the nature of his brain surgery is different.

This is a woman whose whole life was shattered by a madman. Although an aneuryism isn't any less dramatic, I wouldn't put damage due to natural causes in the same category as a horribly insane and criminal act.

Probably had she suffered an aneuryism, his comment might have still been insensitive, but at least there was something more in common, a kind of commiseration.
