Kosovo Serbs facing food, medicine shortages: report

BELGRADE (AFP) — A trade embargo imposed by authorities in Pristina has led to severe shortages of food and medicine among ethnic Serbs living in northern Kosovo, media reports said on Sunday.

Suppliers from Serbia have been unable to deliver bread and milk to the towns of Lesak, Leposavic and northern Mitrovica, the Belgrade-based Beta news agency reported.

Shops in the towns were also on the verge of selling out of meat and sugar products and customers have been stockpiling flour and yeast, it added.

Supplies of bottled water were also running low, while doctors at the main health centre in the major town of Mitrovica expressed concern over shortages of medicine, the Beta said.

Long queues could also be seen at petrol stations throughout northern Kosovo.

However a NATO-led peacekeeping mission said in a press release that the situation in the north and the rest of Kosovo was calm.

The report came after the mainly ethnic Albanian government in Pristina decided earlier this month to implement a new ban on imports from Serbia, as they suspected ethnic Serb officers of turning a blind eye.

Looks like the Serbs are getting ethnically cleansed and the world sits by and does nothing...

Pray for the Serbs.

I lived in Serbia (south of Belgrade) for a year as a child, right after Tito’s death and things were similar. Before and after that, when we would go visit, we would pack entire suitcases full of basics like toilet paper and canned food, sugar and packets of yeast along with smuggled Bibles and pro-western literature that had been translated into Serbo-Croatian.

These people are in need of prayers and a little ‘help’ from the underground.

A trade embargo imposed by authorities in Pristina

i hate the MSM. it took me years, before i realized that ethnic Serbs were christians, and ethnic albanians were muslims.
and as the Coptic Egyptians know, anytime the Muslims are in control, it’s going to be bad for the non-muslims.

...but the MSM is too busy crying about Islamophobia, to tell the truth.

Where are those Freepers who are so loud in defending Clintiglia’s swains war on the Serbs in 1999? Let's see where are those such as Hoplite who are proud of their part in this glorious chapter in our military history. Some how I doubt they will be around to comment or perhaps defend the Elbonians they assisted in establishing their criminal Islamic regime.

Yes, not that they need pretext except to have something to yell about at the UN when the Serbian-Russian tanks roll into Pristina.

And to think, Albania was at one time the leading force of opposition to the Ottoman Empire. Skanderbeg must be spinning in his grave over what has happened to his homeland.
