Former Obama Adviser Brews A Different Tea Party (Van Jones)
NPR ^ | 7/31/11 | NPR

Posted on 07/31/2011 2:36:09 PM PDT by Drango

Van Jones was President Obama's special adviser for "green" jobs when he was hit with a wave of criticism from conservative pundits about his past associations. The controversy forced him to leave his post in September 2009, but it wasn't the last we'd hear of him.

That same conservative wave went on to make a major splash in Congress through the Tea Party. Jones decided to fight back, founding a group called the "American Dream Movement."

Some people call Jones' group a liberal version of the Tea Party. His inspiration, he tells weekends on All Things Considered host Guy Raz, is the silent majority of Americans who he believes oppose Tea Party platforms.

"Sixty to 70 percent of Americans agree that jobs are more important than this debt-ceiling debacle," Jones says. "Sixty-seven percent of Americans agree that we should raise taxes on the wealthiest in a crisis like this. We aren't being represented."

Jones finds it ironic that those who see government as the problem refer to themselves as patriots.

"Everything the Tea Party says about America's government is how terrible it is," Jones tells Raz. "You can't take a wrecking ball, paint it red, white and blue, call yourself a patriot, and then smash down every institution that made America great."

While anger is usually more effective at mobilizing political movements, Jones says his group has been successful with a more optimistic message.

Referring to the first Tea Party gatherings in summer 2009, Jones says, "We had twice as many house meetings to start our movement as they did. They had 800, we had 1,600."

Jones says his group now has 127,000 members.

The "American Dream Movement" has three major policy planks: Raise taxes on the wealthy to Clinton-era levels; responsibly draw down the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; and investi in public infrastructure to combat unemployment.

Jones says infrastructure projects can be financed in smart and efficient ways. But he's aware of a challenge: "We're not even focused on the smart ways to get Americans working because we're chasing the Tea Party down the street."

Progressive Nationalist Socialist Progressive Party = American Dream Movement. NPR should call a spade a spade, but as par, NPR is nothing but a progressive playground for progressive and socialist word semantics. =.=

“Jones finds it ironic that those who see government as the problem refer to themselves as patriots.”

Well, this only points out how ignorant Jonesy is. The writers/signers of the Constitution were very, very wary of the potential of centralized gov’t power and drafted the Constitution accordingly....and is why we are a Republic.

The left is still trying to start a grassroots movement from the top down?

It didn’t work with the Coffee Party or Air America despite all the MSM support.

Why?

Most of the people who work for NPR, at least on the "talent" side (on-air people and writers) are communists, and everyone knows it. It's pretty obvious. They don't mention it, as a rule, but they don't really try to hide it. They used to, but not anymore.

But according to Jones, it was these institutions that made American great! I assume he means welfare, HUD, Fannie and Freddie, the EPA, the FDA, the Dept. of Education, etc.

Yes, it was government that made America great. What a bonehead.

NPR is funded by Soros, like Van Jones, this is merely a spin piece to pick up the shattered remains of what Glenn Beck forever exposed in 2009.

Van Jones is merely a Marxist revolutionary, charged with taking from the White Community and giving it to Minority Communities via wealth redistribution.

NPR wants the same things...NPR is Van Jones and vice-versa.

Sure, like the Rural Electrification Commission, Food Stamps, Aid to Families With Dependent Children, and Public School, and let’s not forget the BATF and the Fed. Those are the institutions that have made America great, alright. The Founding Fathers are doing flip-flops in their graves because TEA partiers don’t want to write another blank check for another trillion dollars of more of the same.

Here is a great new campaign slogan for his new party.

It's the Institutions, stupid.

Why would NPR want to tell the truth about Obama’s communists, or most other things? In fact, Nina Totenberg, NPR’s top media slut, conveniently forgot to tell her readers that the Mexican nation (who had lived in Texas since he was 2 years old) and was recently executed, was executed for the murder of his young female victim.

She only wrote that he was convicted of raping her (again conveniently leaving out the torture inflicted on this 12 year old by his shoving a stick with a sharp piece of metal on its tip, up her genitals).

The killer was a psychopath but according to Totenberg, he wasn’t. Just that he had his “rights” as a Mexican national to talk to his consulate, denied (a fact that numerous appeals courts said would NOT have altered any of his convictions from rape to murder).

I think a great injustice was done by just executing this psychopath. They should have executed Totenberg for posing as a journalist, and for being a lying propagandist for illegal Mexican criminal aliens.

We need some journalistic standards and if we have to thin the herd in order to keep them at some minimal level, so be it. Let the BBQ begin.

I was a card-carrying journalist who covered Congress, DC events, and then went to Vietnam/Cambodia. I’m totally ashamed of what has happened to a once honorable professor, and I blame media hags like Totenberg and NPR for lowering the standards below the bottom of a cesspool.

Too many leftist journalists have some much American servicemens’ blood on their hands. It is time that they paid with their careers. Unfortunately, we can’t execute them for treason but the thought is very appealing. (Burchett, Hersh, Spragen, Luce, Matthews (for Cuba), Jack Anderson/Drew Pearson, etc).

127,000, That’s a movement? I suppose for ed schultz or randi rhodes it might be but come on. On the national mall it would look like a Reunion of has beens, And I’ll bet they would leave a mess to be cleaned up, NPR would say there were over a million Patriotic Americans peacefully protesting cuts from the Radical Tea Party Congressmen.
