Anything that stops a compromise forces Reid to bring up CCB AGAIN (which under the rules he can do and will have to do). So, I say, “no deal!!!!”

Should be three if West hadn’t caved. Really disappointed in him.

I concur.

When one walks toward a cliff and does not stop, everyone knows what will happen. When one turns around and refuses to walk off the cliff, solutions become realities eventually.

Congress is voting to ask Americans to walk toward a cliff, and when Americans arrive at the cliffs edge, Congress expects each of us to volunteer to be thrown over that cliff. Carrying the grandchildren toward the cliff I know I must learn how to fly for the cliff's face is being torn away each moment by my own government with each vote to increase the debt on my children, my grandchildren and each and every American. Cut the spending Congress! Give America a chance. Back away from the cliff, and let us talk solutions.

The last count I saw was that 25 GOP were holding to principles;...

Principles, something that, no doubt, has thrown the beltway lifers into a loop of total confusion.

Wrong! How about forcing Obama to spend less without raising the debt!!

Hold the lines folks we have a winner. Let the debt ceiling stay where it is... NO BILL. Let the US take her medicine now while she can still swallow it, make 0 spend only what he takes in, then blame 0 and the Dem congress pf 2006-2010 for increasing spending past the breaking point.

Obama wants it out of the picture when it’s closer to election time.

That's obama's line in the sand. Reid made it clear. That's the tipping point.

No, Reid will vote it down in the Senate, make it more satisfying to Dems, and send that result back down to the House — and Boener is back on the hook again.....>p>The libs are not very smart, but they are VERY cunning.

boner can cave and obama definitely wins re-election.

He can stand on principle and MAYBE obama wins re-election.

I’m for number two!

Just called Cong. Mike Turner’s office (he’s the rep from Dayton, OH) and the cheery staffer took down exactly what I said: “No to the Boehner compromise. Hang on just a little longer. We’ve almost won. Make them go with Cut, Cap, and Balance.”

Back to the House or to Senate/House Conference Committee to iron out differences.

The last count I saw was that 25 GOP were holding to principles; this is enough to kill it.

Good for them. A bad deal is worse than no deal. And any deal that doesn't directly address the built-in profligacy that is baseline budgeting is a bad deal.

Here's the deal. Let's say Boehner's Plan passes the House and is sent to the Senate. The Senate will vote no on concurrence, and refer the bill to committee where it will be amended. The amended bill, still called "Boehner's Plan," though it will have been changed to something Senate Democrats can support, will return to the Senate floor and be approved.

Then, the Senate-amended substitute (still called "Boehner's Plan" by the screaming-idiot media) will then return to the House, where the House will vote not to concur and a House-Senate Conference Committee will be appointed to work out the differences.

And we're back to square one.

The House has already voted on a plan, and Reid had it tabled, without a recorded vote.

No one who supports "Boehner's Plan" can tell me where all this high drama, when the Senate majority has already said it will not concur, is to our advantage.

Obama wants to let his artificial deadline pass, and make the GOP responsible, or get his way, this issue out of his way, through the election.

What you typed is the truth and the best way to go forward, away from the cliff, unless the goal is to make lemmings, by the Congress, out of all Americans.
