The woman, Natasha Hubbard, later told police she wanted to eat the baby's arm. The baby suffered only minor injuries.
Adriana Miranda, 29, was pushing her 4-month-old son in a stroller on Boyd Street on Thursday when Hubbard allegedly reached into the stroller, unbelted the infant and swung him overhead, police said.

It’s my understanding that for about a hundred and fifty years, from the 1810s or so to the 1960s, there was a general consensus between government, health professionals, and the citizenry, that ASYLUMS were the way to go for the mentally ill. Livin’ on the street? Mentally ill? Harming yourself or others? Failing to be a normal member of society? You were hauled off, judged to be incompetent, and sent to an asylum of one sort or another.
We have psychiatric hospitals today, but I wonder if there are more crazies on the streets today than there were in the “old days,” and if there ARE more crazies on the streets today, if it is in part because Law Enforcement does not seem to have the right to simply haul ‘em away.
It is not in the Bible, nevertheless I would imagine that in The End, the Evil One also tells his elect “Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant”

I like to think, rather, that in The End, Our Guy kicks the living crap out The Evil One, casts him out of the souls of the mentally ill, heals, embraces, and wipes the tears from the cheeks of every last one of his children.
That is of course unless they don’t accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior in which case they burn in the Eternal Hellfire and stuff.
Unfortunately these moron will go to an LA jail then on to prison where we’ll pay for them for the next several years when a simple bullet to the head of each would solve the problem.

Ten to one, this woman (I use that term rather loosely) has some kind of mental issue. Can we please start building asylums again to put these folks in?
I used to live in Portland, OR. metro area, and there were quite a few homeless as well, many of them with some psychiatric disturbance or another. These people belong somewhere where they can get the help the need, and I think if they’re arrested, the legal system needs to confine them (involuntary commitment) to such a place where they get proper care. I’m not trying to sound like a bleeding-heart or anything, but for heaven’s sake, you don’t leave a horde of mentally disturbed individuals roaming the streets. And I’m not talking about “flash-mobs”....that can be cured with the proper application of firepower.
The genuinely mentally ill need to be looked after, and to be honest, (IMO) the prison system isn’t really the best place for it.
How many homeless are lurching around Santa Monica these days, by the way? If someone could edify me, it’d be appreciated.
Or then again, maybe my post is unwarranted, as the Zombie Apocalypse has already begun.
