I think Speaker Boehner needs to take a break. If possible, he needs to have all the Republican House members go back to their districts to get in touch with their voters during some town hall meetings.

I imagine that the meetings will be HOT. The voters and the Tea Party members will be out in huge numbers and they will bring hell with them. My opinion is that the base will put some spine into their Congressmen. Speaker Boehner appears to me to be unsure of what course he should take. Trust me on this, the voters will be VERY CLEAR on what course to take.

Great idea! Their constituents will stiffen their backbones, that’s for sure. Hold the line! Do not cave to the RINOS!! Reinforcements are coming!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

Do u really think Bonehead will send these Republicans back to their districts for Town Hall Meetings. Quite the contrary, he’s got them right where he wants them: Among the DC Elites who can lavish praise
on them, invite them to victory party if this bill passes, write how brave they were..etc

I really think Enterprise is onto something here. If we think that Boehner is going to get in the way, then we need to call our reps and tell them to get their butt’s home NOW so they can come to OUR town hall meeting; if they know what’s good for them.

Thanks boss. Speaker Boehner appears to be “leading from behind” on this Democrat imposed “crisis.” If he had the courage to contact the voters, he would understand the volcanic voter fury coming in 2012.

I think the idea is great. But after the vote, I don’t think u will see much of the Freshmen Class who votes for this back home. They will officially become part of the DC Elites, the ruling class, protected by the etablishment.

Speaker “Mr.Boehner” has lost all confidence with conservatives with his latest compromise attempt (defeat). He has been rebuked by all Tea Party voters and that alone should be enough to change his mind. Too bad that he does not listen to his Te Party allies.

I doubt that he can figure this out though - being in Washington and faced with so many liberal Democrats and liberal Republicans. I’d expect nothing different that collapse in the final decision. That is the Republican way...

Have given up on any compromise with Democrats and am just waiting for the next election. Seems that only then can we actually chop government. Actually, even with Republicans, I have somewhat limited hopes... geez... What does that tell you about our government?

Realistically, I do not expect Speaker Boehner to send them home to find out what the voters are thinking. He knows that what the voters are thinking trumps all the ridiculous polls.

In one of Speaker Boehner's weepy interviews he talked about how much it meant to him to help the children of this nation achieve the American dream. Fine and good, but for now, millions of those same children will NEVER have a chance to achieve the American dream. If Speaker Boehner had the courage of his stated convictions, he would stand his ground and tell the Democrats there will be no more new taxes, no more new spending, and there will be gigantic cuts in the budgets of a lot of the Federal Agencies. The budget WILL be balanced, and if the Democrats don't like it - TOUGH. IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!

"What does that tell you about our government?"

It tells me that a psychological shock needs to be administered to our leaders the likes of which they have never experienced. They really do understand, they choose to take the easy way, not the right way.

What u posted is so true. The future for the children and grandchildren of america will be much different. None of these bills begin to solve the root of the problem. Out of control spending.
And until that is addressed, it will get worse, real fast.

I would agree with the caveat that each member is assured they are speaking with their actual constituents and not bussed in homeless guys and union thugs paid to wreak havoc and accuse them on national TV of killing grandma!

You are right! We actually might need a catastrophic default or other major default to stun these idiots in Washington to realize that this is NOT about re-election, but about saving the country.

Not holding my breath! Actually, I would expect default and collapse before I would expect elected officials to actually worry about the country first! Really a shame!

What would a catastrophic default do?

Make us live within our means because our credit would be cut off!
We'd stop funding China!
We could get a bail out from Europe! (ha ha)
Make us prioritize: cut off the UN, aid to Pakistan and NPR! Etc
Fund Education responsibly— my state spends almost $14,000 per student on Education, yet I could said my child to an awesome local private school for $9,000!!!

It's hard for me to be serious because they're all going to just cave to Obama at the end of this.

Last thing on his mind. People will be demanding that their reps remove him as Speaker.

Not gonna happen.

(Though I wish it would.)

The American taxpayer has been FORCED to fund too many things that are not in their best interests. The Tea Party people understand this and want to to stop!
