McCain erupts: Conservatives are lying to America
The Washington Post ^ | 7/27/11 | Greg Sargent

So the debt limit debate has come to this: John McCain, who you may recall was the GOP’s 2008 standard bearer, is now openly accusing conservatives of actively misleading America with their completely unrealistic demands, which he labeled “deceiving” and “bizarro.” In a seminal moment in this debate, here’s some video of McCain on the Senate floor today, unleashing an angry tirade at conservatives who are still holding out for a balanced budget amendment as part of any compromise on the debt ceiling. McCain accused them of “deceiving” America into believing such a thing can pass the Senate:

This moron just got re-elected, and already he’s stabbing his constituents in the back. A text book case of Beltway Disease, if I’ve ever seen one.

I don’t know why he doesn’t just join the Democrats. At least then, the things he says would make some sort of sense.

I’m sorry Obama won, but I’m not sorry McCain lost.

Sorry Juan old boy. The only reason I voted for you in 08 was because Sarah Palin was on the ticket. If it hadn’t been for Palin, I WOULD HAVE STAYED HOME!

Forced to choose between principle, and the Georgetown chatterati, John McCain will invariably choose the latter.

I’m surpried he didn’t have his buttbuddy Goober standing next to him smiling. I bet it took a long time for him to get Goobers lips pried off his rear.

KMAJM. There comes a point where it doesn’t really matter any more whether it will pass the Senate.

The Senate needs to consider single digit spending cuts and BB now, or a 40% spending cut sometime after August 2.

I remember in a 2008 debate lord McCain as Chairman of the Commerce committee bragged to US that he did not know economics. But he has made a career of itching about marking ears. I can only guess there are NO ear marks any longer now that the liberals are spending US into a black hole of debt.

Lord McCain needs to go and fix his Libyan war he has helped orchestrate.

This is a man who a week ago, while on the Sean Hannity radio show, was literally frightened by the prospect of whatever outcome came out of this saga. He was afraid of "what the people would think" (i.e., they would blame Republicans); he was wholly supportive of the McConnell proposal to allow the President to raise the debt limit on his own; he lamented to Hannity--who to Sean's credit, pressed McCain NOT to give and and raise the debt limit unconditionally--McCain essentially abdicated his role as a U.S. Senator, saying "someone needs to give me a better option!"

Whatever honorable service this man gave to his country decades ago, he sounded like a complete coward. He is not worthy to serve as a senator. He spoke like a man who had no understanding of the situation, and worse, no understanding of politics nor of the strength of the Republican's position. Left to him, he would completely cave.

Senator McCain, it's better to die on your feet, than to survive on your knees. You should've learned that from Viet Nam.
