Early reports quote witnesses as describing the Oslo suspect who is in custody as “blond,” “Nordic-looking,” and “Norwegian.” Naturally, MSNBC is going up in a balloon over this, reporting that a “specialist in Islamic movements” is “caution[ing] that widespread assumptions that the attacks were connected to international terrorism could be wrong.” The expert, Magnus Ranstorp, concludes that the description of the suspect points “to an internal rather than an external extremist.”
Again, it is premature to draw conclusions at this stage. Still, having debated the subject of profiling for years, I am always amazed at how quickly the people who say we must not profile become committed profilers when it suits their purposes.

The media are ecstatic over the possibility that a white “Christian” is involved here, because Timothy McVeigh was getting very shopworn as the poster boy for “right wing extremism.” When “Christians” are suspected in these cases, there is no hesitation to profile on the part of the Leftist media.
You can’t make the statement “99% of all terror attacks are made by Muslims”, without ONE terrorist attack from a non-Muslim. Of course, given the media today, I’m not sure I even believe that.
Profiling Muslims is not an excuse to close your eyes to other threats.
Not being wary of those proving a frequent high risk is stupidity.
I thought that there were blonde blue-eyed Muslims? I could be “misremembering” but wasn’t the Serbia-Croatia conflict about religious conflict, with the Croats being Muslim and blonde?

If there is any chance the guy is a Christian or worse yet a Fundamentalist Christian we have absolutely got to profile. (sarc)

Croats tend to be Catholic; Serbs Orthodox. Both have blonds among them. It is the Bosnians who are mostly Mohammedan, and also sometimes blond. But there are also Christian Bosnians, and Bosnians of Serb or Croat ancestry.
