Walnuts Are Drugs, Says FDA
The New American ^ | Thursday, 21 July 2011 10:10 | Michael Tennant

Seen any walnuts in your medicine cabinet lately? According to the Food and Drug Administration, that is precisely where you should find them. Because Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts that the FDA didn’t approve, it sent the company a letter declaring, “Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.” The agency even threatened Diamond with “seizure” if it failed to comply.

Diamond’s transgression was to make “financial investments to educate the public and supply them with walnuts,” as William Faloon of Life Extension magazine put it. On its website and packaging, the company stated that the omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts have been shown to have certain health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer. These claims, Faloon notes, are well supported by scientific research: “Life Extension has published 57 articles that describe the health benefits of walnuts”; and “The US National Library of Medicine database contains no fewer than 35 peer-reviewed published papers supporting a claim that ingesting walnuts improves vascular health and may reduce heart attack risk.”

The FDA has become a globalist Marxofascist tool of NAZI-originated “Codex Alimentarious,” as adopted by the United Nations.

Now there’s something to Web search....

Just like FDA to interfere in the consumption of healthful food. If it ain't junk they don't want it.

BTW, the Seventh Day Adventist church has a number of folks on unusual diets. Years back a scientific study was done of a group of SDAs who ate a cup of nuts a week. They had no cardiovascular disease of any kind.

FDA does not want you to know that of course.

Walnuts are drugs? Seriously, would we even notice if the size and scope of government were to halved overnight?

The FDA is no better than the EPA or the IRS. It’s been misleading this country since it’s inception. The “food pyramid” was absolute BS. They’ve approved drugs that have caused great harm to people and continue to operate as Marxist nanny state “organization” designed to put private business, out of business.

Cloward-Piven at work for you.

Overwhelm the system with regulations.

Bring it to it's knees, shoot it in the head, then start wiping out the excess population the system supported.

I learned a long ago to never think you've seen everything. Nasty-gram from the government to a walnut company threatening to regulate their nuts as drugs?

The story would be funny, if it wasn't so infuriating. The people we have "governing" our once free nation are a bunch of damned goons who need to be stopped.

Are prescriptions needed?

Are they to ONLY be available (the first of select foods)
for the Congress, Obama and his family, the SEIU elite,
and those of color and sufficient gayness or crossdressing?

One of millions of examples of why 'government' has grown way too big and far too intrusive. This is how bureaucrats, drunk with power, kill perfectly legitimate businesses, all the while pretending that it's for 'our safety'. We have got to stop this. Elect conservatives.

This is nuts. FDA should be abolished as a gov't agency and replaced with a model similar to Underwriters Laboratories.
They should only publish test results and let consumers make their own choices, not make laws.

Yes. Our lives would be simpler, fairer and far less frustrating.
