Juan Williams on NPR: Elitist and white

By: Keach Hagey July 21, 2011 07:39 AM EDT

No single person has had a greater impact on National Public Radio in the past year than Juan Williams.

The political wildfire started by his firing took down the media organization’s CEO, top news executive and top fundraiser, and sparked multiple votes on the floor of Congress to strip the public broadcaster of federal funding.

As if this were not vindication enough, in “Muzzled: The Assault on Honest Debate,” a new book out next week, Williams details a decade of what he said was NPR’s effort to “censor, control and belittle” him because of his longstanding relationship with Fox News, and, to some degree, he said, his race.

“It is a very elitist and in this case white institution that I think is struggling with the changing demographics of American society,” he said. “And it struggles with the idea that there are capable thinkers and journalist and people who don’t fit into some box.”

It's much more accurate to say that NPR is struggling with self-hatred.

Beg to differ. Sort of.

These guys don't hate themselves, though they do hate people who look like them.

They love and admire themselves for their superior virtue, which is demonstrated by their separating themselves from and demonizing white people as a group.

IOW, they set themselves (and all white people who think like them) apart from "real white people" by the very criticism they make of them. This allows them to believe themselves superior to people of both pallor and colour.

If they were REALLY self-hating I've be able to tolerate their idiocy and evil a little more easily.

"Williams, an affable, babyfaced 57"

Is this serious? Babyfaced? Freeper ladies, is this true??? I don't see it. Anyways, I agree with a lot of this article except that Juan's insinuation that NPR treated him like this because he's black. No Juan, you strayed off the liberal plantation. If you were white and did this, you would have been fired by NPR. The difference between you and Mara is that she may give her opinions, but she doesn't go into touchy subjects and she doesn't stray from the liberal plantation.

I have to agree with you. Lately, he is positively snarly.

My fav thing on tv is the Panel segment of the Bret Bayer program. Now, Juan has been installed as the regular “liberal” POV. I always kind of liked him before this...but lately? WOW! He says stupid things, can't back them up, then OF COURSE gets his point knocked in the mud by Krauthammer...at which time he actually starts snarling at CK.

I've felt for a few weeks that it is just a matter of time until old Juan blows. He is in over his head and it's p*ssing him off—because where is he to run now? He's burned that bridge.

I don't care for him anymore, he adds nothing to the debate. I am looking forward to that day in the not to distant future when he blows. Should be entertaining to watch CK’s sardonic reaction.

Juan Williams is all of those things but he is honest about it- rare among libtards.

Fox hired him because he would have been out of work at NPR because of his relationship with Fox. So it was honorable for Fox to give him a job.

Getting fired turned Williams from your basic left-wing hack into a multimillionaire. He won the lottery.

In other words, the people who are the biggest Racists are the ones who go around telling everyone else they are racist.

Can’t say that I agree about Fox News being honorable.

Anyone [or organization] that desires to be honorable is
not afraid of the truth no matter where it may lead...

Therefore it is dishonorable to continue to employ the likes of Juan Williams, Blowhard O’Reilly and all who
are afraid of the birth certificate issue.

When you sum it all up giving lies equal [or any time] is not honorable

not truly even ‘fair and balanced’

“Anna Christopher took issue with Williams characterizations of his tenure at NPR. “Diversity of opinions, ideas, sources, voices, and staff is very important to NPR, as evidenced by the work we do and the people who do it,” she said.

All points of view, from the merely far left to the looney, barking-at-the-moon, bang-whistle, batsh*t crazy left are important, evidently.

no one would have ever heard of juan williams if not for affirmative action.

on fox news, he consistently defends his master obama even as more intelligent contributors smirk at him.

When Juan and Geraldo come on Fox I change the channel. Neither is worth the effort to listen to.

It’s funny Juan is playing the race card.
Not surprising , but funny.

I agree that Juan is probably the dumbest person on Fox,An Obama fellator from the word go. But 95% of them helped elect him so what else is new?

Gosh, I like Juan. I think conservatives benefit from listening to the non-rabid liberal’s point of view. I go to liberal web sites to familiarize myself with their thinking (usual irrational, slime laden emoting). Juan is a liberal...but he is a truly decent, honest man. I am glad he was hired by Fox.

“My guess, he was told to push hard left to give the network some basis for its claim of bipartisanship.”

I agree with you and have thought the same thing. I like juan. If I have to listen to a liberal I prefer one which doesn’t have rabies.

Juan Williams: Possibly the stupidest man in media.

Yep. There are a lot of stupid females in the media. My vote in that category goes to Mike Berzerkinski.

I did not say ALWAYS, just with regard to this instance.

They did right by Williams, and that is a good thing.

Libtards abondoned him, Fox News helped him
