Harry Reid commends Mitch McConnell’s debt plan

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday praised Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for putting forth a plan to raise the debt ceiling, calling it a “serious proposal” that he’s continuing to study.

“He spent a great deal of time working on this. I commend him for his thoughtful and unique proposal, something that we have to look at very closely,” Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said on the Senate floor. “I’m heartened by what I read. This is a serious proposal, and I commend the Republican leader for coming forward with it.”

McConnell laid out his plan on Tuesday as he signaled bipartisan negotiations to raise the debt ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline were beginning to look “increasingly pessimistic.” His proposal, which he referred to as a “last-choice option,” would give President Barack Obama new power to raise the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt ceiling without corresponding spending cuts.

Last choice option my a**. Obama will just cease to negotiate because he knows he has a lucrative power grab at his disposal.

My question is... doesn’t the McConnell surrender have to be voted on?

I would like to see this "plan" in writing... not the videos talking about it, but ink on paper (so to speak).

Senator MItch McConnell (D) needs to resign today and join the Democrat Party he loves to his very core!!! And...he should drag weak sister, crying John Boehner with him!!! If the Republicans cave on this it will be the end of the Republican Party. The historic level of win in 2010 was because of the out of control government expansion by Obama-Pelosi-Reid. If the response is to give Obama carte blanche on spending then the Republicans may be around for the next election cycle or two but after that will be as numerous on the ballot as the Whigs.

STOP SPENDING! DEFUND all socialist collectives, foreign and domestic. Give “free” citizens back the $ they were forced to put into these socialist programs and SHUT THEM DOWN.

Legislatures (state and federal) can be part-time jobs with 1/10th pay, NO retirement, NO perks, NO insurance. Get a job. Pay for your own crap, you POS politicians.

Come to think of it, that is exactly what Obama is pushing for. His social security and default scare tactic is to get the Republicans to cave knowing that is his only chance of re-relection. The Republican base will abandon the party and the “anybody but Obama” votes will be split among Republican and Tea Party candidates. On the other hand, if the Republicans prevail in this fight Obama may lose some of his base but will take credit for any improvement in the deficit and economy. Still, I would rather see a NO to increasing the debt limit and the Republicans directing the Treasury to pay the debt, social security and medicare, and active duty soldiers first out of current revenues. We would have a balanced budget amendment without the amendment.

McConnell is getting the Bush Sr. “rope adope” and soon may saying “read my lips no new taxes”..
Until the democrats raised them anyway like they did to Bush Sr..

Bush Jr. had another gambit.. he lowered taxes(thru conserv’s a bone) then created a whole government bureaucracy.. which raised taxes in the following year..

OH!... and prepared the way for Zero’s Presidency.. made republicans look like smucks..

I wonder if McConnell is a smuck!... and will be getting circumsized..
