Tens of thousands of Egyptians braved scorching summer heat to hold one of their biggest protests in months Friday, filling streets in Cairo and other cities to demand trials for members of Hosni Mubarak's regime and express frustration with the slow pace of change.
The exhilaration of Mubarak's ouster on Feb. 11 after 18 days of mass protests has yielded to widespread frustration that "the revolution" has stalled. The economy remains sluggish and many are confused about what comes next. Some are demanding that the country's military rulers, who took power after Mubarak, push back parliamentary elections set for September because most political factions are not ready.

The Muslim Brotherhood, which is the best prepared for the race, strongly opposes any delay.
This "democracy" will exist briefly......just long enough for the MB to gain control.
What is the Egyptian definition of democracy any way?
didnt they just do this a few months back?
Muslims speak double-speak the same way statist totalitarians, aka democrats, do.
Democracy will be allowed like the democracy they have in Iran, WITHIN the context and religion of Islam.
“The economy remains sluggish”
GEE That’s what happens when slugs try to run things,No Pony and a Flat screen ??? Ahh Too Bad! Now back to raping.
Freedom to burn down Christian Churches without fear of repercussions.
From the State Department’s 7th floor great idea room: Hey, let’s give them a few billion in aid that we don’t have. That’ll fix things! And while we’re at it, let’s have Cairo Embassy sponsor an LGBT Celebration Day! It went so well in Islamabad!
Yeah! They will get to vote——once.
Who do you think will be counting those votes. LOL
An undercurrent to everything that happens in Egypt is a pretty terrible one. About 10% of their population have hepatitis C. About 8.2 million people.
It began when hundreds of thousands of Egyptians received injections against an a widespread, water borne parasite in the 1950’s to the 1980’s. And they reused needles and syringes. To make matters much the disease is also spread congenitally, so many Egyptian children are born with the disease.
Over time, the disease damages the liver resulting in cirrhosis. In patients with advanced cirrhosis, the liver begins to fail. This is a life-threatening problem. Confusion and even coma (encephalopathy) may result from the inability of the liver to process certain toxic substances.
Increased pressure in the blood vessels of the liver may cause fluid to build up in the abdominal cavity and result in engorged veins in the esophagus, that tear easily and can bleed suddenly and massively, quickly killing the victim.
This increased pressure also can cause kidney failure or an enlarged spleen resulting in a decrease of blood cells and the development of anemia, or the development of low blood platelets, which can promote dangerous bleeding.
In advanced cirrhosis, liver failure causes decreased production of clotting factors. Patients with advanced cirrhosis often develop jaundice because the damaged liver is unable to eliminate a yellow compound called bilirubin that is formed from the hemoglobin of old red blood cells.
Without a liver transplant, prognosis is poor. And odds of getting a liver transplant in Egypt are slim to none.
So no matter what happens in Egypt, good or bad, they face this disaster on top of it.
They’re Muslims...Democracy is not going to happen. Iraq isn’t a democracy. It is under Islamic Law.
The Muslim Brotherhood is calling the shots.
They snap their finger an 10,000 pour out into the streets.
You could be talking about Baraqqi "flash mobs" for election day 2012.
That is what community organizers do, as well as storm legislative sessions, city council, board of educations mmeetings, etc.
That was my point in asking the question...their definition of democracy IS Islamic law.
That’s a pretty succinct definition.
What you mean the Arab spring didn’t automatically produce jobs, food, security or health care?
I think that was the same plan the demoncrats had when electing Obama.
Idiots all.
The average annual income is about $6,300, or $572/mo, except for Ramadan. Barely enough to afford staple foods, and one of the reasons for the riots in the first place.
Is it now the Arab summer? Second verse same as the first?
