OBAMA'S 2012 GAME PLAN: How can the president rev up and mobilize his demoralized liberal base?
Newsweek ^ | June 26, 2011 | Michael Tomasky

Posted on 07/03/2011 10:31:02 PM PDT by no dems

It was a rare confessional moment for Barack Obama. At a Miami fundraiser in mid-June, the president acknowledged that it’s “not as cool” as it was in 2008 to support him. It isn’t just a matter of fewer hip posters and viral videos. It’s a matter of votes. Rekindling the enthusiasm of African-Americans, educated white liberals, Latinos, young people, and union members—the Democratic Party’s most loyal and progressive members—will be a huge challenge. After all, you can only elect the first African-American president once, and the past two and a half years have deeply disappointed many liberals. “I know a lot of the kids who worked hard in 2008,” says Hodding Carter III, adviser to the last one-term Democratic president (Jimmy Carter) and now a professor at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. “They walk around like cattle who’ve been hit with stun guns between their eyes. This isn’t how it was supposed to be.”

Aabout the strongest argument Obama can make to base voters: it could, and will, be a lot worse if you don’t vote for me. That’s true, and fear is usually a pretty good motivator in politics. But it still isn’t what people were hoping for, and it seems inevitable that some percentage of the most loyal Democrats will stay home.

Looking like an educated idiot is one thing, however, destroying America based on information learned from these so-called American institutions of higher learning is down right CRIMINAL!

The imbeciles, morons, idiots, commies, illegals, fags who make up Odumbo’s base won’t change their minds. They are brain-dead.
But, they won't turn out in the numbers they did in '08.

I think if we have Marco Rubio on the Ticket in the VP spot, we’ll draw off some of Obama’s Hispanic vote AND carry Florida. I say that whoever carries Florida will be living in the White House from 2013 - 2017. WHAT SAY YE?

Simple—make every person the GOP tries to run—look like a flaming racist, a fool, or a religious fanatic who will start to burn witches. Thats the only way he can win—tar the opposition as worse than Obama. then get the A) Blacks on his side (a done deal) B) Get the Gays on his side, C) Get the Mexicans on his side with amnesty so they can bring in their cousins, uncles and aunts, C) Get the Commie leftist on his side with some soak the Rich socialist talk. It might work. BUT he has lost his magic mojo. the Anti-War people will stay home, so well the Jews and the rich leftists. The Right is organized and motivated. His fight will not be easy—If the Dems were smart they would figure out a way to get Obama off the ticket and run Hillary.

'12 will be blood bath for the Rats and they know it. Just look at how weak Obummers campaign stops have been with the lack of attendees.
I agree, but what scares me is the Democratic thugs ability to steal elections. WE NEED CONSERVATIVES AND TEA PARTIERS TO BEGIN SIGNING UP AND TRAINING NOW TO BE POLL WATCHERS; ESPECIALLY IN PLACES LIKE CHICAGO, MADISON,MILWAUKEE AND ST. LOUIS.

How should it be worded? "The only people dumber than I am, would be the people who voted for me." Is that better????

they're not going to even consider voting for the Republican. They'll just stay home.
That'll work! They will NOT clear out the Crack Houses, HO Houses and Jail Houses for Obama this time like they did in '08.

You're absolutely right.

It took a vast army of committed droids to wring every possible vote out of the left in 2008, but this time around, Obama doesn't have the same drawing power to summon that army.

Oh, he'll have some boots on the ground for sure, but nothing like the all-pervading, near euphoric masses that helped him over the top the last time. Not even close.

The right, on the other hand, is nearly ready to burn down Washington, they're so mad and energized. Whole different dynamic at work this time, and if we nominate Sarah, we'll have a head lopping warrior leading the charge.

I'm telling, this election is going to be a thing of beauty. I can't wait to see hordes of lefties crying in the streets, and talking heads jumping off buildings. It's gonna be grand ;-)

For the Base, it will never change. The american communist party is openly supporting Obama and no one is blinking an eye.

What is going to trouble Obama is how he gets back the middle. Many of them aren’t working. I don’t think running on continued unemployment is going to fly.

Be like a Caesar: Hold a parade and throw gold and bread at the masses while riding a chariot.
Obama thinks he is king, so he might as well go the extra step.

Newsweek can't explain why it would be worse if Obama isn't re-elected. Perhaps you forgot the headline, which also tells you the intent of the article - to try to mobilize his base. If the lie would be obvious coming from his lips (and it will), they are willing to start it first in the attempt to do some energizing/mobilizing.

Funny how algore screams about how Bush "played on our fears", while its the lefties who constantly resort to fear-mongering.

The theme will be that anything, no matter how bad, is better than any republican.

Was it any different here in 2008?

Most active, ideological voters will vote ---- even for a compromise candidate.

These elections are not decided by most conservatives on FR or liberals on DU. Activism, volunteering and participation in a campaign can help (or hurt if there is less energy).

The sad truth is that elections tend to get decided by the mushy-middle group of people who are less informed, less motivated and less ideological.

If you look at this mushy-middle, you will clearly see that Obama is finished.

Consider that it is commonly accepted that Obama's economic policy is a failure. It is commonly accepted that Obama's ideology is too liberal.

Many of these people do not care if a president is conservative or liberal. They care if their policies are working and if they are doing what seems best for the country. That is why they re-elected Reagan in 1984, Clinton in 1996 and Bush in 2004.

Yes, just watch. They didn't blast McCain - - they ignored him. The put out a hope and change campaign that had Leni Riefenstahl smiling from the underworld.

Now the Democrats will have to openly trash the Constitution. They will have to lie about Obama's failures and Obama's path toward ruin. Those lies, coupled with the unqualified hatred of their political opponents, will bring forth a political campaign that will have Satan smiling.

Obama is now a known quantity and a known failure. For Obama to win again, the Democrats will have to sink to the lowest levels in politics; lower than we have ever seen in the U.S.

They have GOT to be a fierce patriot, who's unloading on Obama and the Marxist Dems with both barrels blazing.

I doubt you will get your wish.

As much as I would like to see Obama eviscerated in public, it is not necessary to win....therefore, it will not be done.

The Dems would love to have an opponent who makes this a personal grudge match with Obama. Unless it is Herman Cain on our side, they will be called racist, bigoted, etc. (even Cain would be called racist....somehow.)

Our candidate will win without making this race personal, which risks a backlash, blunder or 'inappropriate' comment. (which we would not consider inappropriate)

This campaign can be won by completely ignoring Obama himself and just talking about spending too much with no results, intruding too much with no authority and by not leading enough on the national and world stage.

Our side better focus on a clear three-step program to make things right. Something like:

Cut spending (Americans have tighted their belts, its time Washington tighten theirs)

Cut taxes and regulations (When people and companies spend their own money and are unleashed from Washington's control, this country prospers)

Return to individual sovreignty. (Americans are sick and tired of 'group' politics. The individual is the ultimate minority and must be at the forefront of our thinking on legislation.)

A more patriotic, forward-focused campaign is the key to win. Successful policies that fix the economy and get gov't under control win the ideological war, providing our side makes that point over and over again.
