Every other student in Croatia says homosexuality is illness

ZAGREB — Half of Croatian high school pupils think homosexuality is an illness and two-thirds say gay rights marches should be banned, a poll said Friday.

Some 47 percent of final year school students polled said "homosexuality is illness," the survey done by non-government rights group GONG found.

More than 64 percent of the 999 respondents in 43 schools said gay pride parades should be banned as they "have a harmful effect on education of young people," the poll showed.

On June 11, a gay pride parade in the coastal town Split was marred by violence when anti-gay protestors pelted marchers with stones and bottles, injuring about a dozen people, four of them journalists.

A week later, another parade was held without incident in the capital Zagreb.

Croatia's first gay pride parade was held in Zagreb in 2002, with more than a dozen participants beaten up afterwards.

Since then, parades have been held in the capital annually without major incidents, but always under heavy security.

Croatian society is largely conservative and the influential Roman Catholic Church has publicly branded homosexuality a "handicap" and a "perversion".

Almost 88 percent of the former Yugoslav republic's population of 4.4 million are Roman Catholics.

I'm glad some places in the world a semblance of sanity still exists even if it is imperfect.

I'm sorry for thinking this is hysterically funny.

Did you ever think it would be former-Communist states that would be the most resistant to this nonsense?

Slavs in general have this attitude, Poles and Russians, are right there with the Croats, that’s why they will be the last bastion of Western Civilization when all is said and done.

Well clearly these people have never been to San Francisco. If only they could be exposed to liberalism and open homosexuality and all that, then they will be enlightened as to the ways of the world. (sarcasm)

These poor people don’t know that they are hateful and bigoted. (more sarcasm)

If only the founders had known what was coming. Many of old Russian state have adopted bans on government promotion of homosexuality and deviance. We need something like that here to keep the government out of the issue but it is unlikely. Even conservatives don’t have the will or even the respect for the truth to the extent that they will take the heat on this issue. They could turn the tide fairly quickly if they took the approach they have with global warming. Instead they stand silently by and let the left and its sexual miscreniants more steadily forward and it has just as much potential for the abridgement of personal freedom as any fiscal issue. Some day they will not have a choice to be silent it will be required by law.

Even here in America people are kept in the dark about the homosexual lifestyle. The unfortunate thing is that the dangers are known and yet now they encourage elementary age level kids to be openly gay even though it horribly increases the risks of early death at least as much or more than giving them a pack of cigaretts or having them join a street gang. Some think that the suicide, drug abuse, and sexual disease will go away if only they can get married and all the stigma is put down through legal fiat but it doesn’t. It hasn’t in New Zealand, it hasn’t in the Sweden or any other place where tolerance rules. The horric irony for young gay men is that the promise of gay marriage will most likely increase HIV infection because of lack of use of protection in those relationships while 88% of young gay men do not even know that they have HIV.

Many of them have flat taxes also. I’ve thought for sometime now that someday our old enemy may be our salvation.

I don't believe it is an "illness". I do, however, believe that it is an imperfection in the human and other species.

Give them the right to live without fear of torment (so long as they behave), but that is as big a "right" as I can find in my heart for them.

No need for that. Thankfully the inevitableness welcomed by the left is not so inevitable.

Consider:

As our "betters" now inform us, homosexuals are "born, not made."
Any successful change to the human genetic code is desirable when it enhances species survival. True of False?
Homos don't want to "breed." How does this promote species survival?
Possible conclusion: Homosexuality is a birth defect.
Solution: Is someone looking for the faulty gene sequence? Have they found it, and if they do, will the Butt Pirate Lobby allow the news out? Can we fix it? Why shouldn't we either fix it or abort it?
If homosexual tendancy can be tested for in the womb, what parents would want the baby, besides same sex couples?

A few years of anti gay eugenics, and Lady GaGa loses his/her/it's fan base...

One of the communist goals for the US in 1963 was to normalize homosexuality. So, communists have known for a long time just how destructive homosexuality is to a culture.

But how many of them were gay journalists? How many were transgendered journalists? How many were questioning journalists? Oh, wait...
