Fox News Poll: Romney Remains Top GOP Preference as Perry Draws Close Behind
FoxNews ^ | June 29, 2011 | Dana Blanton

In a Fox News poll released Wednesday, Romney received the backing of 18 percent of GOP primary voters. He's followed by Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 13 percent, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 11 percent and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at 10 percent. Perry and Giuliani have not declared their candidacies.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, also undeclared, is now in single digits at 8 percent support, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul garners the support of 7 percent.

All other candidates receive the support of 5 percent or less.

Palin supporters splinter when asked their second choice, with many undecided. Without Palin in the race, Romney increases his edge by 2 points, and Perry, Bachmann and Giuliani all gain 1 point each.

Romney is still in the lead and if he gets the nomination, we are toast, because Obama gets a second term for sure.

I think Perry can beat Romney and Obama.

I back Perry, but Palin only 1 point up from Paul is suspect.

18% does not quite make him a ‘winner’

When 82% of the people chose someone MORE CONSERVATIVE

(yes, for the knee-jerkers, you can say >80% were against all the others too, but in Romneys case all the others are all more convervative than him)

If he ‘wins’ with 18% of the polling someone will torch GOP headquarters, people are that mad

My advice at this point would be to abandon the GOP. I believe to be nominated by either major party at this point is to be compromised. A counter revolution must be mounted by a 3rd party taking back the executive branch first.

Yep, something fishy there, her base is still expanding down where the boots on the ground are.

The fact that the GOP still lets New Hampshire and Iowa play such a disproportionate role in the nominating process shows how out of touch it is with reality.

For all those 'conservatives' who just 'love' Ricky Ricardo Perry, take a lookie here to read some of the comments from some of his conservative constituents.

Romney is still in the lead

BS! Media Dreaming. Romney is not going to be the nominee. If he is, it will be the death knell for the Republican Party.....

Romney = Obozo mini meme.

This poll=complete garbage

It is a push poll by Fixed news, designed to support their delusional meme that Palin is not running.

I’m really starting to believe that you are right about that. The GOP was toast a long time ago. And if this is what they are offering us in regards to possible candidates, they are only confirming that!

Romney=Pro choice, Pro Socialized Healthcare
Perry= Yet another RINO

Gee thanks guys! If the Republican National Committee calls my house looking for coin they are going to get it!

The point is that the Republican vote is divided among many other candidates and Romney gets the nomination — that’s how McCain got it too. Republicans wait for a “perfect conservative” and in the meantime, real RINOs get the nomination and lose to the Dems.

Perry is not a RINO he is pro-llife and fiscally conservative, anti-tax, anti-regulation.

There is night and day difference between Romney and Perry.

Why are all you looking at these other candidates? It’s obvious that as soon as GOV Palin declares she will get 99.99% in the general election /sarc

I’m just Sick of these RINOs and their pathetic little sock puppets who read from the same script in election after election.

They feed us this garbage about how their guy is the only one who can win when the reality is that almost anyone in the race right now can win with the exception of Huntsman and Paul.

This is a totally useless and worthless poll if it’s based on a ‘generic’ primary poll and not a ‘state’ based poll.

The primary campaign will be won on a state by state basis, with the early states more heavily weighted.

I don’t know why they even spent and wasted the money to do this (unless there’s an ‘ulterior motive’ involved).

How could you say that? I’m going to sit at home unless Sarah Palin is the nominee and then complain for the next 4 years after Obama is reelected/sarc

No doubt. A New Party aimed directly at the White House and RADICAL change is needed. The GOPS and RATS are the problem. Along with the blind fools that vote them in. Maybe the upcoming depression will wake them up. The best way to take the country back is by first taking the executive branch of government, The Legislative branch has already turned over most of its power to the Executive and Judicial. We are being ruled by unelected international bureaucrats and bankers.

And only your RINO is just right. LOL
