A new Hays Research poll shows Barrack Obama would beat Sarah Palin among Alaskans if the presidential election was today.
The poll found 42 percent of Alaskan voters would pick or are learning toward Obama in a head to head race against Palin for the presidency, while 36 percent of the voters would choose or are leaning toward Palin over him.
Conservative Anchorage radio host Mike Porcaro paid for Hays Research to ask the question.
Sarah Palin showcases her Alaska roots at every opportunity, but the surprising reality is she has become highly unpopular in her home state, Porcaro said in an emailed statement.
Whether it is the fact she left office after serving barely two years or that some Alaskans believe her tax policies have punished our vital oil and gas industry or the rock star nature of her media coverage, these results show Sarah Palin would lose to Obama in Alaska, where voters overwhelmingly support conservative candidates, Porcaro said.
Porcaro hosts an afternoon show on KENI AM and owns an Anchorage advertising agency.
Hays Research of Anchorage polled 500 Alaskans who voted in at least two of the four statewide elections. The poll was on June 21st and June 22nd.
It asked:
Although it is some time from now, thinking about the election for President of the United States next year, if the election were held today and the candidates were Democrat Barack Obama or Republican Sarah Palin, for whom would you vote or are you undecided?
Respondents who had strong views favored Obama 34 percent to Palins 25 percent.

Haven’t seen the internals, but if Alaska votes for Hussein, then kiss the Republic goodbye. We’re doomed.
Where did they poll? In the villages?
A lib polling firm. Only fools would peddle this idiotic trash.
Is it possible that (wrongly), the majority of Americans have bought into the lies about her and cannot be convinced otherwise?
White Guilt and The Jealousy of Success could easily explain this!
I am so tired of this Affirmative Action and White Guilt $#!T

Sure. Now if only we can nominate Mitt Romney, Alaska is saved. Hurrah.
I posted this before:
This poll was paid for by Pocaro Communications... disclosed on the pollsters website... and Mike Pocaro is one of the republican murkowski bunch... and one of the good old boys that had clients that felt the sting of Governor Palin. He has a local political radio show... was a past Director of Alaska’s PUBLIC BROADCASTING SYSTEM. Every officer on the board of this company is tied in with networks, Disney, BIG OIL, ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE, Marine Services companies, Shell, Phillips 66 and every other corporate parasite that Palin took on a Governor. Ask yourself why a company like this... why would they pay for this poll? Could it be that they needed to shape opinion to reinforce the lie that Palin is hated? Could this be lisa murkowski payback... it was after all... her daddy that Palin beat! Come on people... do a little research and THINK! Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think.

As Governor Palin had a 93% approval rating and an 89% approval rating, and had sustained approval numbers in the 80s, she was the most popular Governor in America, and even described as the most popular official in America.
I don’t have any doubts that Alaska would vote for Governor Palin over Obama.
It’s not about “White Guilt” or “The Jealousy of Success” or Affirmative Action.
It’s about Sarah Palin.
No the Repubic isn’t doomed, the Republic is simply trying to tell you that Palin is damaged goods and cannot win against anyone. Please find us a serious, quality candidate we can vote in to replace Obama.
Unless the Palin troops realize she can’t win and stop backing that dead horse, help find a serious candidate who can win were stuck with 4 more years of Obama, guaranteed!
Do you know or did you check to find out if this poll was done by registered or likely voters?
During my visit there to Alaska a few months ago I was quite surprised at the number of folks there who appeared like they had a liberal bent to them.
Barely, and only after Republican Senators telling Alaskan voters that they would keep Murkowski's power if they reelected her, instead of Miller.
The same pollster that Had McCain/Palin winning by only 3 points they won over 21 points. So we know Hays is Crap plus he is a Murkoski person
Alaska...3 electoral votes.
But 88% were for Sarah before the media decided who they prefer.

BS, Palin is the only one that can beat Mitt romney.
Here are some recent polls, and they reflect more or less what we have seen for almost three years running, Palin either first or second.
Three days ago the AP-Gfk poll showed Palin as first in favorability among all GOP candidates with republicans
Twelve days ago The Economist/YouGov poll had her at first on the 2012 list as nominee choice.
Eighteen days ago the Reuters/IPSOS poll had Palin at first of the 2012 list as nominee choice.
Hmmm...take with grain of salt when they misspell the WH occupant’s name.
In 2012 we need every single one. We may only win by one electoral vote.
RE: Do you know or did you check to find out if this poll was done by registered or likely voters?

They claim it is a survey of LIKELY VOTERS ( in their words -— 500 LIKELY ALASKAN VOTERS ).
SEE HERE : http://haysresearch.com/page2/page32/page32.html
This is all there is to their Survey Methodology
This survey was fielded on June 21st-22nd, 2011 as a means to measure attitudes towards candidates and races among likely Alaskan voters (defined as having voted in at least two of the last four local or statewide elections). 500 likely Alaskan voters were interviewed for each of the four surveys.
The margin of error for the data collected is +/- 4.4 % for a 500 response survey for the data analyzed in its entirety with a 95% confidence level; meaning that we can be 95% sure that if every resident of the State of Alaska with working telephone numbers who have at least one member who has voted in at least two of the last four local or state elections was actually surveyed, the results would vary by no more than 4.4% in either direction.
The survey sample used was a computer generated random list derived from a database of all households within the State of Alaska with working telephone numbers who have at least one member who has voted in at least two of the last four local or state elections. The sample frame was designed to accurately reflect the actual population percentages.
Respondents were screened to confirm they were over 18 and each household was attempted at least four times over a period of several days to account for non-response bias.
Data was analyzed utilizing SPSS Quancept Software.
Interviews were conducted by trained staff with on-site supervision utilizing state of the art computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI). Random interviews were monitored to assure quality control measures were followed. Dialing results were analyzed daily to assure statistically accurate distribution of call disposition in order to account for non-response variables.
For purposes of disclosure, this poll question was survey was paid for in full by Porcaro Communications.
Hayes track record on polling is terrible, his polling for 2008 was off by 17 points
Sarah Palin showcases her Alaska roots at every opportunity”
I wonder if they’re not jealous of her success, and that she’s no longer “the gal next door”? Just trying to reconcile this supposed poll with the unquestionably high favorable ratings she received as Governor.
Or is the entitlement mentality that strong in AK?
Maybe news travels slowly but those people who’d vote for Obama need to wise up or sober up.
Palin srong? Who’s their editor?
And the union thugs telling voters the day before the election in a state owned building Murkowski is the only one who will help them - but they can decide for themselves. Right!
pissant .. That You?
The nature of the PDSer
In a time not so very long ago, a man of logic, reason and rationality, upset by the injustice of the mindless and their baseless attacks upon his candidate of choice, did undertake a quest to discover the nature of the PDSer.
And so did the man travel to the far corners of the Earth, for in his travels he could find no wisdom, nor wise man, to satisfactorily explain the root cause of Palin Derangement Syndrome, nor its effect on those so smitten. It was not until a chance encounter with a Zen Master high atop a remote mountain in Tibet that our hero found his answer.
To discover the nature of the PDSer, said the Zen Master, One must understand the logic of why the sky is yellow.
Confused by the sage words of the old wise man, our hero listened intently as the knowledge of the ages sprung forth from his old and weathered lips...
To discover the nature of the PDSer, One must understand the fact that dogs meow and cats bark at passing cars.
To discover the nature of the PDSer, One must understand the reason why the sun shines brightly in the night sky.
For what seemed like hours the Zen Master spoke thusly until finally our hero looked upon him and said Master, dogs do not meow, nor cats bark. The sky is not yellow but blue and the sun shines in it by day, not by night. To spout such nonsense is neither logical, nor rational, nor factual. In fact, youd have to be nuts to believe any of that!
And so did our hero gain enlightenment into the nature of the PDSer.
Anchorage is full of leftwingnuts. Gotta a lot of gubmint employees there. Next?
Thanks for that info, LLS. I’ll say CASE CLOSED on this and on those who find glee in anything against SARAH.
This ‘newspaper’ has been on Palin’s case for years. I am inclined not to believe anything they publish, and it strikes me as odd that a ‘conservative’ talk radio guy would commission such a poll.
only a Liberal, a RINO or some other elite would believe what you state. So many Freepers can't even begin to understand the threat Sarah poses to the left.
If nominating Sarah guarantees four more years of the Marxist then why the H*ll all the efforts to rabidly discredit her? Wouldn't it be to the left's advantage to work to get her the GOP nomination?
Only a fool or a PDSer could not see that the left knows Sarah will crush the Marxist.
If Mitt's or some other RINO is the nominee,I will gladly without guilt sit out the election. Mitt and the rest of the RINOcrats would do absolutely NOTHING to roll back government.
In 2000, the winning margin was five electoral votes.
Just saying.
If this poll is accurate, then the state of Alaska is absolutely slopping over with idiots.
There is some 'salty' language in this, so please make sure you're over "18" before you read about this Porcaro dude.

Is that you Mitt?
Good grief, will it ever end? With Obama’s anti-drilling, anti-energy policies, do they really expect us to believe a state like Alaska whose economy sole depends on drilling and energy would vote for Obama????
I don’t buy it.
can you source that? I would feel a whole lot better...
See post #9 and your ‘don’t buy it’ will be confirmed! Good post.
bump
What curious timimg. They are going to go all out if she announces a presidential run. It will be sickening but also great to see her rise above it.
Right. It’s obvious accuracy is not their goal.
The very words you use to describe Palin: “damagaged goods, unelectable, she can’t win”.....those were the same words they used to describe Ronald Reagan in 1980.
It’s too early to poll. When it comes to election time it’s not going to be about personalities. It’s not going to be about issues. “Sarah Palin” and “Barack Obama” won’t matter. The economy, jobs, debt, spending, etc that will matter. And Obama will lose on the issues.
Nuhn uh, I don’t buy this.
I’m not buying this simply because Alaska is very conservative and Obama is a socialist.
Post 9 is a good source. Not sure, however, if it will make you feel better.
They have long since burnt out bringing up any legitimate ‘concern.’ Palin has stood up to every bit of scrutiny and passed with flying colors. Now it’s down to PDS, “she cant win” nonsense with ho proof to back it up, and crap made up from whole cloth.
It’s inevitable, they can’t stop the asteroid hurtling at them at warp speed and they are babbling to their nonexistent liberal gods for salvation...period.
