Behind N.Y. Gay Marriage, an Unlikely Mix of Forces (Super-rich pushed through NY gay vote)
NYTimes ^ | June 25, 2011 | MICHAEL BARBARO

In the 35th-floor conference room of a Manhattan high-rise, two of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s most trusted advisers held a secret meeting a few weeks ago with a group of super-rich Republican donors.

Over tuna and turkey sandwiches, the advisers explained that New York’s Democratic governor was determined to legalize same-sex marriage and would deliver every possible Senate vote from his own party.

Would the donors win over the deciding Senate Republicans? It sounded improbable: top Republican moneymen helping a Democratic rival with one of his biggest legislative goals.

But the donors in the room — the billionaire Paul Singer, whose son is gay, joined by the hedge fund managers Cliff Asness and Daniel Loeb — had the influence and the money to insulate nervous senators from conservative backlash if they supported the marriage measure. And they were inclined to see the issue as one of personal freedom, consistent with their more libertarian views.

Within days, the wealthy Republicans sent back word: They were on board. Each of them cut six-figure checks to the lobbying campaign that eventually totaled more than $1 million.

These are not business people, mark my words, these are nothing more than ghetto squatters who stand in the way of heterosexual houses, preventing them from growing.

You will see their housing and ghetto investments go to crap, Detroit style.

I looked up GLAAD on Wikipedia. These gay organizations are extremely rich and have heavy legal departments and they intend to roll right over all you peasants.

there were links to other gay and and lesbian organizations, there seems to be no end to them. they get taxpayer money, foundation money, donations from big corporations like Home Depot. You wonder how much the heads of these organizations make.

Combination of 1.) gays control most PR departments of big corporations plus 2.) gays heavily in the media and 3.) the amounts of $$ rolling in from the rich elites and 4.) very liberal judges is going to make it a hard fight.

The very wealthy elites who use favorable tax policies to grow their wealth now pay back social conservatives by financing this effort.

We are kinda dumb at times.

This is why I see this as a problem of the government's own making. Why does the government grant special benefits to certain groups of people? Shouldn't everyone have the same benefits and burdens of government?

I don't believe that there should be any form of government sanctioned marriage. Such matters should be left strictly in the realm of religion or whatever other non-government institution that consenting adults choose to use to solemnize their unions. Government should have no interest whatsoever in an adult's private living arrangements or relationship status.

My son is caught in that web of homosexual deceit(to borrow from a professional on Sexual Orientation) I am NOT like the Reprobate singer. The Scripture is True. Modern Science has NOT trumped nor can it prove false what Scripture declares True. Money cannot buy acceptance, Nor what is Right.. the love of money is the root of all evil. Those who bought this LIE -or who were bought by this money are corrupt and do not represent me-and cannot buy me.The so called Republican who said it is a “basic right”needs to show me where anybody has a “basic Right” to have the State recognize/legitimize what they do? where is the compelling State interest in redefining what it accepts as “marriage” Where is the compelling State Interest in rejecting Religion and Morality Even Knowledge? For none of these fundamental principles of American Govt. can be reconciled to this vote. The so called Republican who said it is suddenly a vote of conscience-and the right thing to do” needs explain himself Or I will continue to say he acts as the beguiled serving the one who was a Liar from the beginning.John Jay would be most disappointed in NewYork- I doubt any of the Americans who formed that State would agree with this present EVIL.

Great picture of Cuomo the Cabron - where are his little antlers? There was a time when a politician whose wife was not being well cared for at home was finished. Apparently that time is long ago and far away. But how, exactly, does NY’s First Cabron come out winners by signing on with the rump wranglers? Is he trying to depopulate the state?

Very true. There has long been an assumption by many conservatives, and many conservative talk radio hosts, that all business people and the wealthy are naturally conservative.

The past few years has proven otherwise as we see Wall Street support Obama more than conservative candidates. And we saw the drug companies and medical insurers jump back-and-forth, for and against Obamacare depending largely on how they thought it affected their bottom line. No concern about the mushrooming size of government, just their bottom line.

And, of course, business interests will flood the nation with illegal aliens with little thought of the long term effects.

Conservatives definitely need to become much more discerning about their usual knee-jerk support of business interests.

I don't believe that there should be any form of government sanctioned marriage.

Governments throughout time have always recognized marriage and recorded them for the purpose of inheritance etc.

What is NOT the governments purview is DEFINING marriage. That is the right of the church. And that is what is wrong with government declaring the right of homosexuals to "marry". Government has no right to redefine marriage.
