Constitutional lawyer David Rivkin Former White House lawyer, David B. Rivkin, Jr. has written extensively about the powers granted to presidents by the U.S. Constitution.

Rivkin, the lawyer who successfully initiated the constitutional debate on the 2010 Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”), has achieved renown as one of the nation’s “staunchest defenders of the Constitution.” His legal opinions stem not from a conservative ideology, but rather a deep-rooted belief in personal freedom and the Constitution itself.

Through op-eds in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and other major media outlets, Rivkin and his long-time associate Lee Casey spend considerable time on legal opinions. Rivkin is also a frequent speaker at local Federalist Society Chapters throughout the U.S.

The Federalist Society’s teleforum is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22 at 1 p.m. and will feature Rivkin, who practices appellate law at Baker Hostetler LLP, and Professor Ilya Somin of George Mason University School of Law. They will discuss the question of whether President Obama has exceeded his authority in the controversial Libyan operation.

Did he overstep? It’s more like he tromped all over the place with his eyes shut.

Does the President have the right to declare war, according to the Constitution? When Japan bombed us, did we consider it an act of war?

This has become stupid. Everyone wants to know why the House of Representatives hasn’t acted against this low-life thug’s depredations. How many divisions do they have? None.
zero has exposed the fatal weakness in our political system. That each political body can’t counteract each other political body because of military might.
The executive trumps all if a psycopath is in charge. He has a Army.

Congress answered that attack with a declaration of war, which was constitutionally proper procedure. Some accuse the administration of not launching a defense at the first knowledge of the impending attack, in order to foment greater American discontent. It knocked out what, something like a quarter of US naval forces? I’ll let more knowledgeable parties debate that one; I hadn’t even been born.

he has an army . . . That's why many of us are for bringing back the draft. Presidents have abused the power of our great all volunteer forces. Unfortunately, now we need to take away their private armies. It's a path to totalitarianism

I don’t understand how bringing back the draft gives the legislative and judicial any military power?

Did Obama Overstep In Libya?

Using a question mark (?) proves there are idiots among us.

Let me correct it:

Obama tramples on CONSTITUTION and American rule of Law by illegally attacking Libya.

Of course he did,.... since when do we even imagine anything is going to stop this mans agenda? He does what he wants and will continue to do so, he is simply doing what he said he was going to. The Constitution means nothing to him but a hurdle his legal team works around so he can continue his ride.

———he has an army-——

We don’t know that to be true. We also don’t know what it would take for a company of Marines to assault the White House and arrest him.

Recalling our history, we don’t know what it would take for his Praetorian’s to go get him where he sleeps.

Based on your screen name, we share several political ideologies in common.

You’re right about the question mark.
