Why did this ever develop in the the first place? My sense of things is that there is a trajectory we have been on for decades (at least) leading to exactly the loss of American Constitutional government.

Seems the Second American Revolution is ninety-eight years late!

Our opinion is irrelevant to the outcome.

HA! Another drug war cheerleader runs and hides when confronted with the Constitution!

Time to come out of the closet, Mr. Wickardista.

My recollection of what led to the prosecutions of the
officers who killed Kathryn Johnston in Atlanta was that
the person they picked after the fact to cover for them in
the role of informant wouldn’t play along.

"wow, his gear sucks."

Heh. I'm sure that in the seventeen years since then, those play soldiers have all sorts of new, neat, nice & shiny Ninja gear. The better to protect Americans with, I'm sure.

I like your tip of the hat to Orwell. The quote from “1984” is from O’Brien saying what the point of their party/government is:

“Always, Winston, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.”

For further troubling parallels are wanted, read about the emmanuel goldstein character in 1984 - on wikipedia if you haven’t read the book.

A judge is a law student who marks his own examination papers. H. L. Mencken ... No judge will ever find against another judge for this sort of crap. It won't end UNTIL the individual JBTs who participate in these home invasions are found CRIMINALLY liable for their actions. And don't hold your breath for that happening.

Grand juries have the power of Presentment; a judge 'finding' against them (that is ignoring the presentment) would be ludicrous and opening himself to that Grand Jury's prosecution as well.

>> End the War on Drugs and you end 90% of the justification for these unspeakable savages. I know they’ll come up with other reasons (like unpaid student loans), but taking away the War on Drugs will go a long way towards pulling the carpet out from under their feet.

No, it isn’t.
The War on Drugs has not added, and cannot add, to the fundamental securities of the citizen. Here’s why: the whole idea is founded on the idea that the Federal government CAN regulate substances [drugs], EXCEPT there is no Constitutional authority for it to do so, even the corrupt judiciary’s beloved ‘precedence’ [*spit*] shows this in that Prohibition *REQUIRED* a Constitutional amendment to authorize just such a regulation against just such a substance.

Therefore, the War on Drugs is fundamentally at odds with our Constitution.

You are right!

I have been thinking about this madness more and more. And I have to say, all this nonsense that is being built up to supposedly make us ‘more secure,’ is crap, it’s government overreach, and they play to our patriotism so that we help to build our own cage.

But I wasn’t raised to be a coward, crying for safety - I was raised to be an American - to be unafraid and to take my chances. And if bad luck happens, I live with the consequences. I’ll take liberty over security now, everytime. I’m a big boy and can handle my own security. I’d rather die free, then live safe in a police state (and even police states aren’t safe anyway - hell, even prisons aren’t safe, and they have guards 24/7).

This government nightmare to secure our safety is destroying this country. I am just waking up to it.

Apparently, some in the distant past came to the same conclusion. Good Luck and may that force grow stronger in the nation.

“The federal Department of Education doesn’t employ a single teacher but it does have a SWAT team: They kicked down a front door in Stockton, California last week and handcuffed Kenneth Wright (erroneously) in connection with a student-loan ‘investigation.’ ‘We can confirm that we executed a search warrant,’ said Department of Education spokesperson Gina Burress. The Department of Education issues search warrants? Who knew? The Brokest Nation in History is the only country in the developed world whose education secretary has his own Delta Force. And, in a land with over a trillion dollars in college debt, I’ll bet it’s got no plans to downsize.” —Mark Steyn
