The donald is a very rich, ego-maniac, comb over to the limit, asshole.

His threat {promise} to run as an independent so that we can defeat obama is pure bullshit.

If he does run it will be to help obama, not to beat him.

Trump is literally giving the media ammunition to run stories about how terrible the Republican Medicare reforms are. Trump is intentionally helping destroy the Republican House majority. . . . What he is doing now is effectively waging a campaign against the very Ryan plan almost all our Representatives and Senators had the guts to vote for. No conservative should have ever been supporting this clown. . . .

What is unfortunate is that Trump had accidentally connected with the winning issue for 2012 - unfair trade - but then backed off.

Nobody in either party is seizing this game-changing issue.

Trump rocketed in popularity across the board, when he dared say what EVERYONE is thinking. It’s the emperor’s clothes. That which must not be said.

He said it - and look what happened.

I’m baffled by his stand down. And quite disappointed that moment was lost.

The first party or candidate which runs on the trade mess will walk away with 2012.

In a landslide.

are familiar at all with Obamacare or Ryan’s plan? Obamacare took 500 billion OUT of medicare to pay for other people’s health care. Ryan RESTORES that money, and anyone 55 or over continues with the existing program.

Trump says so many contradictory things. He said the he might run as an indy if the stock market took a big fall. WTF? Everyone knows that a 3-way race with Trump will greatly increase 0bama’s chances of winning. Then, the stock market will really tank with an 0bama win.

There are far more important issues with far broader support the GOP should be running on. For example: JOBS.

You can't just wave a wand and make jobs unless you support some massive government make work program.

Reforming entitlements, cutting taxes, cutting government programs and curtailing the welfare state is how you make jobs. This is tough to do as the country is very wedded to the social welfare state, but reforming it is the only way to avoid going belly up. Ryan and the Republicans are trying to do something about it. Trump the clown is attacking attempts at reform, giving the media and Democrats ammunition to attack conservatives with, and spewing a bunch of populist crap that won't create a single job anywhere.

I believe this article comes from Trump's interview on Greta Van Susteren's show last night on FOX.

The headline should be that Trump said he's a possible third party candidate for the presidency! He specifically said that he'll wait 11 months (until next May), before deciding whether the Republican nominee is worthy enough for him to support. If not, he'll be a third party spoiler.

This is consistent whith what I thought all along about his sudden appearance on the political scene as a "Republican." He is at best a RINO who has no qualms about going third party to split the opposition to Obama and thus help Obama's re-election bid. In many ways, he could be to Obama as Ross Perot was to Clinton.

He may be “pro-America,” but Trump is a big-government, entitlement-program, egomaniac celebrity who does not understand the Constitution. He is no conservative.

I've already decided that he isn't worthy of my support.

WTF is he saying now?

Look, he was great with the whole BC issue, but didn’t push it far enough and go after the natural-born thing.

But, now it appears he’s showing his true “Moderate” colors and that he’s truly not a Conservative Republican, or maybe not even a Republican at all.

Medicare is unconstitutional. duh!! It shouldn’t even exist in the first place. Ryan’s plan deals with it, maybe not the best way, but it’s better than any other plan out there right now. And Trump should stick to building buildings and managing real estate, and leave policies and legislation to those who know better. IMO

I will give him that the GOP has a death wish though...but not for the same reasons. The more the GOP pushes for a Moderate or Progressive candidate, in lieu of a CONSERVATIVE one that WE THE PEOPLE want, that will be their “death wish”. IMO. And IMO, even though Obama is totally beatable, it’s the GOP’s vote to lose....if we don’t have a strong backing behind a real candidate, or if we have RINO’s splitting the vote per say.

In the Ryan plan, what happens to Medicare for people currently age 55 and older?

If I understand it correctly, it stays the same as it is now.

You’re right ,but you’re beating your head against a wall - a single issue pro union pro tariff wall. Some folks post about nothing else, ever.....

Pro tariff is not pro-union.

Tariffs are union, and politically neutral.

No government bureaucracy needed. No heavy hand of government picking winners and losers.

Consumer decides.

Reforming entitlements, cutting taxes, cutting government programs and curtailing the welfare state is how you make jobs.

Exactly right. We are bogged down with government. It sucks money out of the productive sector and into inefficient transfer payment programs. These programs are not longer simply giving people a hand--they are full out subsidizing their lives. The country is like a drunk with too much booze in his system, or an addict with too many drugs in his system. Until he dries out, there is no going back to being productive. This country is in the end stages of a full out government spending addiction--the last stages of the massive Ponzi Scheme known as the Welfare State. Until we wean ourselves off of the spending, there will be no more jobs or productivity. We will stumble along like the Soviet Union did for the last decade or two of its miserable existence.

I honestly haven't really followed what Ryan is proposing, but honestly it wont matter, because regardless of what it proposes the Democrats will scream “REPUBLICAN ARE TRYING TO TAKE AWAY YOUR MEDICARE!!!” and the old peeps will go running to the polls.

“When they tamper with Medicare —which happens to be a good program, but there’s lots of fraud and waste which we should take care of — but when they tamper with Medicare, they have a death wish,” Trump said.

Trump is clueless. Medicare will bankrupt us. It is unsustainable as currently structured. No amount of cutting waste, fraud, and abuse will fix it.

“No conservative should have ever been supporting this clown and those that did should feel embarrassed and ashamed for having ever been fooled by him.”

I hate to say it....... but it looks like you may be correct. I was one of those, and I am embarrassed. But, I will not resign from Free Republic.
