According to the May Nielson ratings, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart beat the entire Fox News network in terms of total viewers. Stewart averaged 2.3 million viewers, while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers.

According to Comedy Central, The Daily Show is dominant in its time slot,

For the month of May 2011, “The Daily Show” averaged 2.3 million total viewers and a 1.2 P18-49 rating. Versus May 2010, “The Daily Show” grew an astounding +19% in total viewers, with incredible double-digit ratings growth across all key demos including P18-49 (up +21%), P18-34 (+22%), P18-24 (+21%), M18-34 (+18%) and M18-24 (+21%).

“The Daily Show’s” 1.344 million P18-49 viewers led all late night talk shows in the demo for the month and, with a 2011 YTD average of 1.25 million P18-49 viewers, “The Daily Show” trails only “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (1.27 million P18-49 viewers) in the benchmark demographic for the calendar year crown.

Daily show isn’t a source of news, and the folks watching it aren’t in it for news. Their primary source of news is the web, just like most FReepers. TV news, even on Fox, is about the TV first, anybody that has any form of TV news, even Fox, as their primary news source is going to be habitually ill informed. Daily Show only has 2 million viewers, in a nation of 320 million that can hardly be considered controlling the message.

I hope Fox is figuring out they are losing viewers due to their caving to the lefties accusations.

Don't think that has anything to do with Stewart's increase in audience. Hardly think Fox's former watchers are going over to Stewart, if they're conservative.

No, I just meant that RedEye can attract (and maintain the attention span of) younger hipsters, who are too cool to watch Hannity. (Like me, except for the younger part).

True. I know I have pretty much stopped watching Fox.
I watch F&F but as far as evening shows no. I can’t stand the mid day anchors so forget that.

And wins Emmys every year. And is probably where everyone decides whom to vote for.

I work with angry white liberal women (Hillary supporters) who dislike Obama, and regard Jon Stewart as a leftist Rush Limbaugh (primarily because of the Bush years). They are generally over sixty, never married or divorced, and childless; did I mention they were angry?

So! It’s a comedy show. I’m sure Two and a Half Men beats FOX news also.

What an idiotic headline and article. They’re comparing the average for one show with the average for the whole network.

I suppose Greta could claim that her show is more popular than the comedy central network that carries John Stewart.

Many of those men under 35 aren’t working right now, and probably don’t find much funny stuff on TV anymore. The loss of the unemployed liberals will haunt the Dems in coming elections; it already has in 2009 and 2010.

If Dems think their “ideals” will carry the day, they’re delusional; people can’t eat them or make mortgage/rent payments with them. If unemployed libs could find work converting baby seals into gasoline, they’d hop at the chance.

Oh,.,,I stand corrected. I didn’t know Stewart was on Comedy Central...shows how much I watch him.

Still, I am reminded apples to oranges. Why compare a comedy show to a news network? What’s the point?

Compare Fox to CNN or MSNBC...I follow.

Why not the Bill Maher show...compare it to Fox.

Or how QUBO? Say, QUBO had more viewers than all of Fox.

Sure, QUBO is children’s cartoons but why not compare them to Fox news? Makes as much sense as comparing a comedy show to Fox news.

His real name is Jon Leibowitz. Another self-hating Jew ashamed of who he is, but I guess since being a leftist is synonymous with being an anti-semite, we shouldn’t be surprised.

Jason should really expand his television viewing...and stop his lying about people and/or views he doesn’t like if he wants to be taken seriously as ‘news’.

Me too! LOL

We're all too cool for Hannity.....especially re-runs of Hannity.....

stick RedEye in that time slot - they'd give the networks and Comedy Central -pinkeye-:>)

Stewart averaged 2.3 million viewers, while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers.

That's because - unlike Stewart's dopehead stoner audience - potential Fox viewers are WORKING AT JOBS during the day time.

O’Reilly just did a 2 night suck up fest to Stewart a few weeks ago. Probably helped boost Stewart’s ratings.
