Palin fires shot at Romney at Bunker Hill

In remarks made at Bunker Hill in Massachusetts -- of all places -- Sarah Palin fired a shot at Mitt Romney over the health-care mandate that Romney signed into law in the state in 2006.

The remarks came just before Romney formally announces his presidential bid in nearby New Hampshire, which Palin also plans to visit later today.

"In my opinion, any mandate coming from government is not a good thing, so obviously ... there will be more the explanation coming from former governor, Romney, on his support for government mandates," Palin told reporters today.

When a reporter followed up that Romney has distinguished his state mandate from the federal one President Obama signed into law in 2010, Palin responded that even state mandates are problematic.

Nice shot at Romney and his state version of Obamacare he gleefully signed while yukking it up with a gaggle of Democrats. I fervently hope Sarah Palin runs for president. We need her honesty and devotion to core American values, primarily individual liberty.

I just hope she finishes the end of her term(s) as President, something she did not do as governor of Alaska. (And yes
the resignation WILL be brought up by the left). Does “devotion” mean finishing the job? (Sorry...but again this
WILL be brought up. Be prepared for it.)

For the record, Romney did not take a salary as governor so
maybe we in Mass. got our money’s worth....

"However, even on a state level and even a local level, mandates coming from a governing body, it's tough for a lot of us independent Americans to accept, because we have great faith in the private sectors and our own families ... and our own businessmen and women making decisions for ourselves. Not any level of government telling us what to do."

That quote will hit progressives the same way a bite of garlic bread hits a vampire. It is the antithesis to their entire worldview.

THIS is why we need Palin. To bring the discussion back to the fundamental issues. Whether she does it as a candidate or as a private citizen backing someone who shares her views...as long as she does it. If we leave it to Congress and the hoity-toities, the discussion will be off in the legislative weeds and serve to solve nothing.
