EV Leads Effort to Reopen Rules Governing Adoption and Foster Care Agencies;
Asks State Board to Suspend Rules Until Additional Comments Received
At a press conference today, Equality Virginia released its letter written to the chair of the Virginia State Board of Social Services and the Commissioner of the Department asking that the recently adopted rules governing licensed child placing agencies be suspended pending further public comment.
James Parrish, Equality Virginia's Executive Director, made the following statement about EV's action:
Children in the child welfare system and prospective foster and adoptive parents have the right to be protected against discrimination. The only factor that should control child placements is the best interests of the child. The State Board's last minute decision to strip protection against discrimination based on gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, family status and sexual orientation from the rules governing state licensed agencies was done without any chance for the public to comment on this substantial rule change recommended by the Commissioner. Under Virginia's Administrative Process Act, the Board is required to reopen the comment period in such circumstances if 25 people ask it to do so. Today, EV is presenting the Chair and the Commissioner with letters from more than 25 individuals and organizations from across the Commonwealth asking that the effective date of the regulations be delayed pending 30 days of additional time for public to comment.
At the press conference were representatives of the Virginia New Majority, the National Black Justice Coalition, the ACLU, Mothers and Others, Virginia NOW, People of Faith for Equality in Virginia and other organizations and individuals who are joining EV in asking that the comment period be reopened. The Family Equality Council issued this press release supporting the action.
Stay alert, if the State Board decides to reopen the public comment period your particicpation is crucial.

Having grown u0p in foster homes then I know of not one kid who ever wanted two men or two women as parents.

I visited the north east about 11 years ago and it was quite a shock.
went there two years ago and it was like a different country once we passed Richmond VA

Seemed as though everyone wore black and navy blue uniforms, drove teensy cars like madmen, and people looked at me as though I was from another planet. It was really strange. And I knew they were mostly leftists so I felt as though I was in enemy territory.

A woman in Boston said are we looking for trouble and she was expecting me to shut up but of course she has no clue who I am and I went back at her and then asked do you ask those with their rainbow stickers etc.
She saw I was not a victim to her bullying and drove off.

We went to Quincy the birth place of our past presidents and in the centre was a church where they are laid to rest.
On the church was a rainbow flag flying and a banner saying saying marriage equality.
This church has two of our past pres laying there and it is right across the road from city hall
Now why is this church getting away with doing this and who the hell let them do this in the first place?
Oh and the people were so rude for the most part .
The north end in Boston was really nice though and we checked out all the history. Just a shame it has loads of loons there and seeing as it is the msot Catholic place then why is the church not speaking up?
The solace is that nothing lasts forever. The fagdom and leftist ideology is destructive in the extreme and it will become a victim of its own destructive power.
Things will be a lot different in some years, I am 100% certain.
