Sad story on so many levels. A young man is dead, and some of the parents of the perps are scrambling to make excuses already.

The title also could be misleading, because it sounds almost like a killing solicited on Craigslist.

Craigslist is great.

The world can be dangerous, but it’s no reason to blame Craigslist. It’s a fantastic site.

Exactly! If the ad had appeared in the classified section of the local newspaper, would AP have called it a “Newspaper Killing”?

Patricia Dykes, Jordan's mother, told reporters her son was "hurting" because someone got killed. She said he was a straight-A student preparing to graduate from high school.

Honors student. Of course. Let me guess, Shaquille was also an aspiring rapper who loved to play basketball and Playstation?

I agree on both counts. Craigslist is great for the most part, and the AP really needs to hire people who can write good headlines.

My local rag has done the same kind of thing in the past. Newspapers hate Craigslist because it the major cause of their loss of classified advertising, and they always strive to put it in a bad light. Craigslist and SUVs.

Well, rival sites to Craigslist aren’t going to miss a chance to take a shot and newspapers with a moribund classifieds business due to Craigslist have an incentive as well.

The mainstream media which also owns the newspapers and print media will never miss an opportunity to knock Craigslist because CL represents competition and a threat and lost profits.

In case you haven’t noticed the USA MSM has an agenda and it is to propagandize with information that it selectively publishes and release. Some things it never publishes.

Why didn’t the suspects’ fathers defend the boys like their mothers did?

I don't think any rational person here on FR blames Craigslist, but it is good story to know how criminals can use the forum to their advantage.

That said, Craigslist would be even greater if they allowed freedom to advertise guns/gun related items etc.. but that is a big no no it seems (grrrr). Also Craigslist becomes a haven for spambots that endlessly post/re-post in forum after forum the same ads for the same junk.

It's felony murder, lady.

That means it doesn't matter if he was the one who pulled the trigger.

He was a willing participant in the crime.

And you forgot the part about him pulling his life together and being an aspiring rap star.
