Two Florida imams among six accused of sending $50,000 to Pakistani Taliban

The U.S. Attorney's office in South Florida charged six people, including the imam of the oldest mosque in Miami, with supporting and financing the Pakistani Taliban.

The men are suspected of giving $50,000 to the terrorist organization, according to the four-count indictment.

Authorities claimed that Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, the leader at the mosque, and his sons Irfan Khan and Izhar Khan were arrested Saturday morning.

"Despite being an Imam, or spiritual leader, Hafiz Khan was by no means a man of peace," U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer said in a statement. "Instead, as today's charges show, he acted with others to support terrorists to further acts of murder, kidnapping and maiming."

The imam was ... by no means a man of peace.

Are you feds, politicians and "religious leaders" catching on yet???

"Today terrorists have lost another funding source to use against innocent people and U.S. interests. We will not allow this country to be used as a base for funding and recruiting terrorists," said John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Miami Office. "I remind everyone that the Muslim and Arab-American members of our community should never be judged by the illegal activities of a few."

You're not catching on, Mr. Gillies.

That’s all we, as the US, ever get. “Don’t forget, most muzzies are okie dokie”. “Don’t judge by a few bad apples” crapola. We are being taken from within! “Oldest mosque” in Miami?! Are we supposed to be shocked that such a thing would happen at such a prestigious, aged and “holy” building?!

A few years agao, when the Texas governor Perry flew into Plano Texas, to lay the first brick for large new Muslim center in Plano Texas, on the tax payers dime, I was told by Texans this was perfectly A-okay because these were Iman's Muslims.

I kid you not.

Plano, TX: “Officials lay bricks in symbolic start for Muslim center”
Dallas Morning News

PLANO – The Ismaili Muslim community announced Tuesday that it is building a $6.5 million worship and community center in Plano, where it has found a warm welcome.

Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center’s foundation. It was a symbolic gesture since the site for the new center will be a few miles northeast of the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, where the foundation ceremony was held.

You're not catching on, Mr. Gillies.

It's going to be okay. WE NEED people like this.

While they are busy hacking off Gillies head, it will give the rest of us the chance to reload.

but authorities said the mosques are not suspected in any wrongdoing.

Oh, my, no, of course the money didn't come from contributions from the members of the mosques.

How sweet. One of my local papers had a glowing front-page article just yesterday about the joys of finally getting an imam at the huge mosque in Jacksonville (FL). I don’t know how many people go there (mostly Albanians, I would suspect), but it is right next to I95 and is enormous and lit up at night so it dominates the landscape.

‘U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer said in a statement. “Instead, as today’s charges show, he acted with others to support terrorists to further acts of murder, kidnapping and maiming.” ‘

This ticks me off. If I was a judge and this case was brought before me, before the trial began, I would direct the prosecutor to write a 5,000 word essay on why prosecutors should not, in public, attempt to convict someone charged with a crime before a trial, and why they should not attempt to prejudice a jury prior to a trial.

The essay would be in longhand, in the prosecutor’s own handwriting.

And if the prosecutor ever, EVER, pulled another stunt like that, I wouldn’t care if he was prosecuting John Wilkes Booth, I would dismiss the case.
