———The age of Newt is over———

I tend to concur except I believe Newt to be a brilliant man with a grasp of history and the progression of events that few if any others have. He is the only pol I know who quoted will Durant.

He has had several years to ponder and plot and develop a plan.

He may come forward with an amazing conservative long term solution to America’s problems others lack the depth of understanding and sheer intellect to develop. He might blow the shallow Obama and other Republicans out of the water.

If he does, his trivial sins will be forgiven.

Congressional Republicans failed to persuade the public to remove Mr. Clinton from office; this is a damning indictment of Mr. Gingrich’s leadership.

Two articles were approved:
Article I charged that President Clinton "willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury" on August 17, 1998 concerning his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and his attempts to cover it up.
The vote: 228-206 in favor (5 Democrats in favor, 5 Republicans against)

Article III charged that President Clinton "prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice" in order to "delay, impede, cover up, and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony" in the Paula Jones case by encouraging a witness to lie, by concealing evidence, and by trying to prevent truthful testimony by finding a job for Monica Lewinsky.
The vote: 221-212 in favor (5 Democrats in favor, 12 Republicans against)

'Twas the Senate that failed.
