There’s been a fair amount of – how shall I put it? – sucking up to President Barack Obama over the past week for his decision to send in the US Navy SEALs to kill Osama bin Laden. Certainly, it was a bold gamble that paid off richly and if it hadn’t it could have crippled his presidency.
But rather than let Obama’s actions speak for themselves, his aides and allies have gone into overdrive and “gutsy” has become the word of the week. As in:

Obama’s options, given that we were very, very sure that we had found bin Laden were:
1. Do nothing. History would not treat that decision very well. The next election, when that fact was learned by the public, would doom Obama to 1 term.
2. Do something. The only option he had left.
Courage? Hardly! He had no choice but to allow the Seals to get Osama.
The only alternative was to let Osama go free. And Obama would eventually have been exposed (by Hillary and Panetta) as Osama’s protector.
Next they will say the Seals were drinking slurpees while Obama dug us out of a hole.
