I cannot speak for doctors, but contractors and lawyers are measured the same way you measure a hair braider - skill and word of mouth.
A license doesn’t mean you’re good at what you do, only that you complied.
Most lawyer work is cut and paste - anyone can do it, including paralegals or someone smart enough to sit in court for 20-30 days and learn the SOP.
