Decision for where retired Space Shuttles go TODAY: Where do YOU think?
Me | 4/12/11 | Hoagy 62

Posted on 04/12/2011 10:09:43 AM PDT by hoagy62

Today, NASA Director Charles Bolden will head up a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Space Shuttle's 1st launch. He will also announce where the 4 remaining shuttles will go.

As I understand it, Discovery is already spoken for although I can't remember where it's going.

The other 3 shuttle, Atlantis, Endeavour, and the test vehicle Enterprise will go to three lucky museums.

The announcement will be carried on NASA TV, as well as on TV stations of cities all over the US who are vying for a Shuttle.

Although NASA is headed in a direction it has no business in (by order of the Idiot In The White Hut), it is still good to remember the success we've had with this program.

So...as a fun distraction from the current depressing problems we've been speaking of lately, where do YOU think the Shuttles will end up?

Post your guesses.

My personal hope is one of them ends up at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. It already has the 1st 747 & 737 to fly, a British Air Concorde, an SR-71, and a Lockheed Constellation. A Shuttle would be an excellent addition!

I’d like to see one at the Strategic Air and Space Museum near Omaha. A great location for many travelers who might not otherwise get to the coast(s).

Meanwhile - check out the cool Google Logo for today!

Well, given Bolden’s marching orders from The Kenyan, I would guess at least one will be converted to a mosque.....

One of them clearly belongs in the birthplace of aviation, at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
Alas we already know we are not getting one, but NY City is!
Why? Because Schumer and Gillibrand “lobbied heavily” and NASA will do what it is told.

Dude just said: “We have gone from white test pilots, to a diverse group of blah, blah.”

Geez, what has the space program turned into, that we are more worried about diversity and what we do with our old junk, instead of getting humans into space?”

Houston should get one.

For obvious reasons.
