Simple fact: We need to cut federal spending.
That means that some people will lose their jobs. It means some families will suffer. That is a true shame, but it is absolutely unavoidable.
Some so-called "Conservatives" want spending to be cut -- just so long as no one loses their job, no benefits are cut, and no changes are made in how government does business.
Well ... change is gonna come.

Get a real job. WE ARE BROKE!! AND NO MORE TAxES!! if you doubt that in anyway please review the current make up of the House of Representatives. DEMOCRATS are shutting down the government because they are PARASITES. But the host be throwing them off —real bad.

I might be wrong, but during shutdowns, us Fed Employees cannot take leave. You are wrong. I took annual leave for the Clinton shutdown. Our time sheets had to go in before the pay issue was resolved and you had to vote for no pay or annual leave. The decision to provide back pay came later.

...You omitted a proper link in your post... Proving again...most government employees can only do one-half the job that employees in the private sector can do.
With so many unemployed, and so many businesses closed or closing, people losing their cars/homes/life savings, etc. and this postal worker is whining about a few days or weeks? Give me a break. Guess they will have to "tighen their belts," as Obama told the rest of us. Guess electing Zero and supporting Reid and Pelosi didn't give them the "change" that they "hoped."

The great irony for all those of my fellow conservatives yelling “shut it down” is that the shut down will cost more than if operations continued normally. You are going to send home employees to sit around and do nothing and it is unlikely that there will even be much in the way of savings because few buildings will be shutdown partially if at all. The employees will get back pay and all obligations will be caught up incurring overtime to process if it goes on for a while.
Shut it down sounds great, means nothing.
Reduce it, that will be the real solution.

Please pull this thread.
There is no need to excerpt it that I can determine, and I could find no such article at the link.
So no informed response can be made.

I’m a federal employee and I say shut it down. I would rather eat beans for a month or two than continue down this path.

I am a Federal employee. I’ve had friends laid off in the private sector, so I don’t have a thing to complain about, even if I don’t get paid. I’ve kept my skills up to date, should worse come to worst.
I also have a young son, and I care far more about the future of this country than I do about missing a paycheck or two. If a shutdown can help bring about necessary cuts, then a shut down is a necessity.
