Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, is a ripe target for a Tea Party challenge as she runs for re-election next year.
She won't be able to count on support of all of her Republican colleagues -- at least not Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa.
Asked directly in an interview with Jonathan Karl's "Subway Series," "Will you be endorsing Sen. Snowe?" Toomey had this to say: "Look, I think this is a very dynamic environment and probably almost every Republican senator's going to face a primary challenge."
While Toomey said he won't be supporting Snowe, he won't oppose her either.
"I'm not going to be opposing," Toomey said in an interview aboard the Capitol Subway. "I'm not going to be getting involved in a lot of races."

No more Snowe jobs.
Moderate Republican Olympia Snowe
Biggest misnomer in the English language, except for Planned Parenthood...when was either ever either?
I’m for getting ALL of the RINOs out....but shoveling Snowe out the door is a good start.
We need many more like Col. Allen West:
As much as I support Toomey and the Tea Party, the odds of replacing Snowe in the Senate with a conservative is ZERO.
And, as much as she’s undercut us many, many, times, she has also supported conservatives many times more (such as voting to put Alito and Roberts on the Court, for example).
Anyone who thinks things will improve with a liberal Democrat in her seat is dreaming.
(fire away)
Election of a Republican governor in Maine was a hopeful sign. The former governor was a corrupt, big-spending idiot, but that didn’t stop him from getting re-elected earlier. Maybe Mainers are finally starting to wake up.
Snowe didn’t used to be so bad. She voted with the party when it really counted, and was permitted to vote the other way when she wasn’t needed. But she really went beyond the pale during her last term. Or, to put it another way, the leadership got so corrupt and incompetent that they failed to rein her in.
Either way, it’s time for her to go. There’s no such thing as “good RINOs” unless you have strong, capable leadership that can control them when needed. We just can’t afford them any more.
"I'm not going to be opposing," Toomey said in an interview aboard the Capitol Subway.OTOH, I will pound pavement for Snowe's opponent; and will do what I can to cast Snowe in the light of being an elitist and non-responsive entity.
She's been in DC too long. The Maine GOP (McKernan (Snowe's wife), Cohen and Co.) are self-serving.
We need to sell Snowe Shovels to get rid of this flake!
All proceeds to her Tea Party opponent.
Have you been following the events in Maine, lately?
1. Conservatives took over the state GOP.
2. A Republican, Paul LePage, was elected governor.
3. Republicans have taken over the State Senate -- from 20D-15R to 20R-14D-1I.
4. Republicans have taken over the State House of Representatives -- from 94D-55R-1I to 78R-72D.
And these do not, by the way, appear to be "Olympia Snowe Republicans".
Ok, sorry. I didn’t realize the victory was that deep up there - I thought that LePage was a one-time fluke. But I have liked what I’ve read about him since taking office, he certainly seems to be then real thing.
I hereby retract my comment and support LePage (or his clone) for US Senate.
( Moderate Republican Olympia Snowe ) .... moderate ? you got to be joking ? right ?
If I am not mistaken, LePage has already endorsed Snowe for re-election.
Snowe stood firm with McConnell on Obamacare - on every cloture vote and on final passage. Further, she promised McConnell that she would not give Obama a vote on final passage to give him the patina of bipartisanship. It is true that Snowe voted for the Baucus bill in the Finance Committee, but her vote was not determinative.
As noted previously, Snowe also voted for Roberts and Alito.
Snowe is a moderate and I am Barrak Obama
Not a Mainer myself and have no familiarity with Maine politics (I'm in Texas).
But I remember being stupefied by the results in Maine last November. And the Maine FReepers appear quite satisfied with their new government (and state GOP).
It's nice to be able to say something like that, with all the other crap coming from DC.

So, maybe, I withhold my retraction. I agree with what you state, and have had a number of arguments on this site on that exact subject.
She did give the vote in committee, but it DIDN’T MATTER, regardless of what the anti-Snowe people say. The committee had majority Dems...it was a done deal. And, if worse came to worse, Reid would have pulled it out of that committee and put it on the floor anyway. It didn’t matter.
That was a ruse. She would have voted for it if they needed her. I am convinced of that.
“That was a ruse. She would have voted for it if they needed her. I am convinced of that.”
I didn’t want to bring it up, but if you insist...
The fact that they COULD NOT get her vote meant that the Dems had to go to Lieberman...and Lieberman would not sign on as long as the public option was part of the bill. The liberals were LIVID at him because of that.
She single-handedly prevented us from already having the public option and being MUCH FURTHER along towards single-payer. Her vote sure as hell did matter.
