Upon Governor Palin’s arrival Israelis will be celebrating the festivities of Purim.

Purim is the day Jews celebrate the story of Esther. It’s a very festive day. Kids dress up and food gifts are distributed to family and friends. People are very joyous and its common to see lots of singing and dancing in the streets. It’s customary to drink lots of wine on Purim. It is also a day of giving a lot of money to charity.

Everywhere in the world, including most of Israel, Purim began at sundown on Saturday night and ends after sundown on Sunday night.

In Jerusalem however, Purim takes place one day later and begins at sundown Sunday and ends after sundown Monday.

Governor Palin will join Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for dinner in Jerusalem on Monday evening; The Purim dinner!

Well written headline that explains a truth by reporting an unrelated fact.

If pissant were still here, he’d be screeching about “the bloody zionists,” who support “that woman.”

The rules for Purim include drinking to the point where one cannot tell the difference between Mordechai and Haman. Which according to other sources is something less than sloppy drunk but just about sleepy drunk.

Only religious holiday I can think of that getting drunk is an obligation.

I found it interesting that Jerusalem celebrates Purim one day later because it is was a walled city like Shushan.

Going to a Purim carnival Sunday at the Shul. Always fun to see kids in their costumes. Read from the megillah and say boo to Hamen and yay to Queen Esther.

I’m sitting here thinking that this was no coincidence, that it had to have been planned. The comparisons to the Biblical Esther were not infrequent in certain circles during the course of the 2008 campaign.

She’s perceived to be a friend of Israel at very high levels, and they’re willingly helping her with her election chances in her as-yet unannounced campaign. So are the Indians.

This is very striking, especially in light of the constant belittling din stateside, even on FR.

I have family in Tel Aviv, they are looking forward to Sarah Palin’s arrival. Hopefully after her meeting with Netanyahu she can visit some of the sights, such a beautiful country. I haven’t been to Israel in such a long time, one day would love to go back and visit

Symbolism of the Story of Esther and Sarah throughout her life

1.Shortly after being elected governor in 2006, when she asked one of her former pastors for an example of biblical leadership that she could emulate. Quoting scripture, the pastor told Palin that she, like Esther, had “come to the Kingdom for such a time as this.”

2.When she was going through the trials of the frivolous lawsuits while as Governor, she often paraphrased a line from the Book of Esther. “If I die then I die” when Esther committed herself to to do every she could do as queen to deliver her people, the Jews from the hand of the Evil Haman

3 Sarah stated.that she often reads the book of Esther to her daughter Piper at bedtime, which is one of Pipers favorite bed time story

4. And now Governor Palin’s arrival in Israel as they will be celebrating the festivities of Purim in memory of their deliverance from the hand of Haman’s plot

“For such a time as this”

Just back from Megillah reading tonight. Attempting to blot out the name of Haman now.. with various spirits.
