'Lovely' Kentucky woman accused of horrific war crimes

STANTON, Ky. — The arrest of a Croatian woman in small-town Kentucky for alleged war crimes two decades ago in the former Yugoslavia "brings her long run from justice to an end," a U.S. marshal said.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Wier ordered that Azra Basic, 52, be held without bond pending an April 1 status hearing and appointed her a lawyer.

Prosecutors argued that no bail amount would guarantee Basic's presence in court.

Federal agents arrested Basic on Tuesday. A complaint filed by U.S. Attorney James Arehart accuses Basic of committing crimes at three camps in the early 1990s near the majority-Serbian settlement of Cardak in Derventa in Bosnia.

The Croatian woman locals in Stanton knew as "Issabella" settled years ago in this rural, hilly area and took jobs bathing elderly nursing home patients and working at a sandwich factory.

This week, acquaintances were shocked to hear the secret that Bosnian war crimes investigators said Basic has been hiding for two decades.

As a soldier in the Croatian army, she killed a prisoner and tortured others by forcing them to drink human blood and gasoline, authorities said.

'Shocking'

U.S. Marshal Loren "Squirrel" Carl said considering the "shocking nature" of the accusations, officers were relieved to have captured Basic.

"This brings her long run from justice to an end," Carl said.

According to court documents, Basic is charged with fatally stabbing a prisoner in the neck in 1992 during the bloody conflict in the Balkans.

Court documents accuse her of numerous other atrocities, including: Setting a prisoner ablaze, pulling out prisoners' fingernails with pliers, ripping off a man's ear with pliers and carving crosses and the letter "S" into another man's flesh.

She is accused of crimes against Bosnian Serbs, not Bosnian Muslims.

The war was between Serbs and Croats.

Note that she carved an "S" for Serb on her victims - carving a Latin letter on a Cyrillic alphabet-using enemy.

Exactly. My brother and I discuss this periodically (more in the last 2 years). It takes only a moment to die in the battle while taking down a few of the animals. Get caught by a barbarian, well...let’s just say it’s highly doubtful that ‘they’ will follow the geneva convention.

I would like to know the process used for her to enter the US. What kind of visa granted, how did she get to stay for such an extended period of time, etc.??

Do State and INS do any investigation? Do they ever turn around an undesirable at the airport? All of the visa and immigration laws need to be completely revamped. This criminal invasion must stop!!

Just what I was going to say. Only the ones who fought against the Muslims ever get investigated.

Maybe she really was a holy terror. But what’s the evidence? The testimony of Muslim scum who lie about their enemies on religious principles?

The Muslims in Bosnia never did anything bad?

Thanks for the correction.

That war between all those factions and the methods used to report it, confused the heck out of me, hence the use of ? marks.

Although, I’d be curious to see if similar efforts are being made to round up the criminals from the other ethnic groups involved.

FRegards,
SZ

It’s worth remembering, though, that John Demjanjuk was initially misidentified as “Ivan the Terrible,” whatever his own (as yet unproven) sins at Sobibor may have been.

Yes, or a nurse in “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest”. It is amazing how outside appearances reveal the soul — kindof like the appearance of Helen Thomas. Maybe their looks determine the amount of hatred they have toward humanity and their ill fortune.

Then again, the elephant man had the sweetest and kindest nature in the world. He was a product of a devoted and loving mother...her love gave him the ability to love others.

This is Marx’s trick.....put babies in daycare (Lenin’s developed daycare) to get young children away from the protective, loving mother which creates the ability to love and trust. Remove them from their bonded person in the first 6 years of life and you create mistrusting, insecure, easily manipulated, hating human beings. The formative years are called formative for a reason.

The indoctrination by the vile feminist groups say that it is not inhumane to put 6 week olds in day care. It is inhumane to take babies away from loving mothers and harms culture in exponential ways.

I had no idea Edward G. Robinson was still alive.

LOL! It *is* uncanny.

Odd how often sadists are drawn to jobs where they can inflict damage on people who can't fight back... She people she 'bathed' need to be checked for broken bones.

There were four main factions in that particular phase. The Serbian Serbs, the Bosnian Serbs, the Bosnian Muslims and the Croatians.

That phase of the war was the Croatia's seizure of lands that it considered to be part of its territory that were in the possession of Serbs or Bosnian Serbs.

The Croatian army's targets were Serbs inhabiting those areas, not the Bosnian Muslims - the Bosnian Muslims did not object to Croats claiming the land as long as the Serbs did not get it.

Essentially the entire war in the Balkans was about various ethnic groups (Bosnian Muslims, Albanians, Croats and Serbs) trying to assert the largest possible physical boundaries for their homelands in a region where competing land claims and resettlements created a chaotic quilt of territories.

Because the Serbs overplayed their hand in the beginning, creating significant ill will in the international community, the Croats and Albanians were able to successfully assert their claims at the Serbs' expense.

The war was between Serbs and Croats.

The war had four sides: the Serbs, the Croats, and the Muslims who split into two factions.

One part of the Muslims followed Izetbegovic the Islamist, and one part of the Muslims followed Fikret Abdic a secular Muslim business man who was actually the duly elected president of Bosnia. Although some of the details are sketchy, it appears that Abdic made a deal with everyone (Serbs, Croats, Izetbegovic Muslims) to stay out of it. He stepped aside (or was pushed out) by Izetbegovic for the Bosnian presidency and in return, he got his little corner of Western Bosnia from which he continued to do business and stay out of the fighting.

But for reasons unknown, the US supported the Islamist Izetbegovic who broke every treaty and ceasefire he had with the Serbs. The US then brokered a deal between Izetbegovic and Croatia's Tudjman, which left Karadzic's Orthodox Serbs and Fikret Abdic's secular Muslims on the same side, fighting both the Islamist Izetbegovic and Tudjman's Catholic Croats.

The Serbs weren't the only ones to get screwed by us. Many of Abdic's secular Muslims got slaughtered by Izetbegovic's mujaheddin imported from the ME, but the press didn't really cover it much. The remainder of Abdic's secular Muslim forces escaped to Serbia and some to Croatia.

This she-beast was part of the Croat army fighting Serbs.

It is worth noting that this alignment --Croat Catholics and Islamists on the same side against the Serbs and secular Muslims-- and all the other alliances in the 1990's Balkan wars precisely duplicated those of WWII and the German Nazi plans for breaking up Yugoslavia. The only difference is that the US, Britain & NATO this time took what had been the Nazi side.
