Hey! I bought into the panic scene in 9/11, too close for comfort. Then the anthrax attacks! Yikes... small child who will be 17 tomorrow, don’t care anymore but I just happen to have the stuff. Just in Case.
Nobody effs with my family... that’s my motto and I am stickin’ to it... even though I look like a nutbag now!
Whateva!

“I thought people were suppose to wait until twenty four hours before radiation hits...”

And only if the stuff coming in has lots of iodine in it. KI does not protect you from radiation, just radioactive iodine, by flooding your body with non-radioiodine.

You’ll still uptake strontium if there is radiostrontium, and cesium, or barium.

And think- Potassium Iodide pills contain radioactive potassium-40!

It doesn’t stay in the body, does it? I thought people were suppose to wait until twenty four hours before radiation hits...

True. I have even read on another site you should start six hours before exposure.

This is third hand from another forum. People there are saying they are already taking it every six or twelve hours. Some people are idiots and then there are the ones who really are.

Shelf life is 6-7 years so having them is actually pretty smart, Japan or not.

In 1910, the great fear was that the earth would pass through the tail of Halley’s Comet and cyanogen gas would kill everyone on the planet. Fail.

When I was a child in the early fifties, we lived west of the atomic proving grounds in New Mexico. The prevailing westerly wind regularly blew radioactivity right over us. We’d be playing in the snow and eating it when Mama would tap on the window and tell us to quit because they announced on the radio that the snow was radioactive. Of course, we kept playing in it.

Sometimes we got the word that our pasture, where our milk cows grazed, was contaminated. Other times we wouldn’t. Our parents did not keep the cattle off the pasture because we needed the milk, and the government directives did not emphasize the dangers of exposure.

I’m in my 70s, and a lot of people I grew up with have died of cancer, including my mother. My siblings and I have had thyroid nodules, some cancerous and others not. But we all have a fine sense of distrust of the government that didn’t care at all about our safety.

My concern is this...

Isn’t there much more of your body to be worried about regarding fallout than your thyroid gland?

I will admit that the thyroid gland is important, but please excuse my ignorance on human anatomy.

Just asking...

Calmly but quickly go to your local health food store and buy up a bottle of Kelp capsules. We did it at lunch today. You take one a day and it will do the trick.

I don't trust much of our Government either but the worst case scenario here doesn't even come close to the US.

I’m taking Cesium Iodide, to be safe from both types of fallout.

It’s also wise to drink heavy water as protection against tritium and neutrons. /s

Americans requesting potassium iodine tablets should be given potassium cyanide in lieu. They are clearly to stupid to be allowed to continue living on this planet. I realize that this will reek havoc with Democrat/Communist/Union efforts to assemble the masses for mindless demonstrations against fiscal imperatives, but such is the price of improving the overall intelligence level of the species.
