Tokyo just got smacked hard. Still feeling tremors. Refrigerator broken, glass everywhere. I'm safe.

Thanks for letting us know you’re safe. STAY safe! Initial reports usually are lacking in info and accuracy. Hopefully, there’s minimal damage to people there. Apparently smoke coming form Capitol right now per Fox News

We went through a 7.9 here in Alaska Nov 3rd 2002; nothing to laugh at. Well head in my laundry room blew off and I had a geyser hitting the ceiling for an hr or so. Broke, all utility lines, 2-3 feet of junk & possessions all over the floors, chests of drawers & china closets flipped over.
We had aftershocks every hr or so for first week, like 6.0 aftershocks. Continued to have after shocks for about a month after first quake. Got old actually. Hope she all works out for ya.
Just had a major aftershock. OK now.
Chatted with Leftie-lie-spy, he’s OK. There’s a lot of broken glass around the building. I have the gas and water
turned off just in case.

Heavy aftershocks in progress. NHK TV studios—bullet trains stopped. Tokyo Metro system.
Tsunami now hitting a port in No. Japan—now—large wave engulfing a port Kimosai City?—in the north—covering boats and cars near the water—live on NHK TV.
Fires in downtown Tokyo. Airport closed. All flights cancelled.
Stay safe. Packing a ecav kit. We are under a watch, may have to leave in a hurry. I’m about 20 feet above sea level.
