It’s all for the government employees. To heck with the people who pay taxes to pay them. Wonder what’ll happen to government pensions when the working people are out of work and no tax revenue comes in.

You had better check the Forbes rating for the top most heavily taxed states. I know they played some games with the figures the last time, but we are still right up at the top.

Checking the newer figures, I see that state’s unemployment rate interferes with the taxes as a percentage of earnings. So, you will just have to take my word for it that when people are working, WA pays more taxes than average. These aren’t normal times and just because we aren’t hurting as much as Michigan, doesn’t mean that we have money to fund bigger government, more state employees and more pensions.

As for the welfare cuts, Washington tax payers care more about the handicapped whose welfare benefits are being cut than we do the benefits of the SEIU members and teachers.

Education money will definitely be cut, but it won’t be cut where most people expect it. Maybe it will be more like shuffling it around, from rural to inner city, from high school to preschool. Last in, first out, better known as teacher tenure will go and the blame will be put on the voters. Gregoire wants to institute public preschool and they can hire two or three preschool teachers with benefits for every senior level teacher with an advanced degrees.

Eva:

You know. We were doing the same thing. We were saying over and over again how we could not wait to get out. That when that certain date and age got there, we were gone. I was from Alabama. My wife grew up in West Seattle from age 10. Her mom died there in 1995. Ashes over Puget Sound. Still has family there. But, Bank of America laid her off after 32 years. I was very unhappy working for liberal lawyers in Seattle after my retirement from the Army. We both just hated getting up and going to Seattle every day. My wife wanted to leave as much as I did.

So, one day, we finally did it. We just said, okay, enough is enough. She quit the smaller bank she was working for after BA canned her. I quit. We gave notice. Had sold our house a few months earlier in our planning because the market there was still high and it was just starting to tip down, so we decided to sell while we could. God was pushing us. Told us it was time to go. We sold the house at an obscene double what I paid for it. Took the money and came home to Alabama. The best move we ever made. We bought a new house, retired, found a wonderful church to join, and have never looked back. The Lord was just telling us it is time to go. And you are going right now. So we did. And we are simply happy we did.

What I mean to say is, that at some point you have to say enough is enough. Happiness is better than living like that. Life on earth is too short to be that miserable all the time. We did, and could not be more happier. Life is what you decide to make of it. You can accept being miserable and take it, or you can do something about it. Hang tough. Be brave. You will also overcome the socialists out there. Good luck, and God bless.
