Just a sampling of what the campaign would be like. A small sample.

You think SNL had fun with Sarah? Just wait for the Christie jokes.

Problem for him is he can’t win. He just thinks he can. He’s the most dangerous kind of politician there is: one who is starting to believe his own press clippings.

Yes, I’ll take Palin’s 18 year record of public service over Christie’s one year (barely) elective office.

He is an enemy of the 2nd Amendment
He’s a fan of climate change legislation
He’s a fan of amnesty for illegals
He finds not one thing wrong with the Ground Zero mosque, and proved it by appointing a CAIR-type person to the NJ Judiciary.

This guy has not passed a budget for his state. Are you aware of this? So far, he’s been great about making videos that wind up on You Tube that garner him much publicity.

It’s time that conservatives start to wonder why he is suddenly a darling of the leftist media.

I’ll take a real conservative with a squeaky voice, thank you. If I am going to vote for a candidate based on something that stupid, I’d resign my FR screenname and head over to the Daily Kook.

Because that is exactly how we ended up with the current resident of the White Hut.

Christie is nothing more than a parody of conservatism and an occassional good sound bite.

He's more than that. He needs to serve a full term at least, but so far, he demonstrates competence in the key areas of executive leadership: vision, sales, administration.

He can prioritize and set a vision. He can sell that vision, even to a hostile home crowd. And he can run an executive office.

He's no hard-core conservative, that's true. I think what draws people to him is his COMPETENCE. It's puts him in stark contrast to certain other hopefuls.

Christie can handle it. He’s not a wilting lilly. He’s already proven he can handle cheap, petty attacks. Those who attempt them become his lunch.

Oh, and you don’t think his weight is a health concern? He’s PRIME CANDIDATE for a quick heart failure death. PRIME.

I get a kick out of Laura Ingraham who devotes hour after hour to showing her disgust for anyone who is 15 pounds overweight and yet she squeels like a 13 yr old Bieber fan over C Christie.... not one word about his MORBID OBESITY.

Sad as it is to say, I don’t believe Christie or Daniels can win due to their physical presence. In one case too much and in the other not enough. Sadly, the mushy middle seem to need to fall in love with the image of the candidate.

I can never figure out the 40% or so who swing back and forth from election to election. I cannot fathom how one could not decide between liberalism or conservatism in today’s world.

Rock star status is a dangerous thing. It breeds hubris.

That's what happened to the 'Bamster.

Sadly you’re correct. Today, even JFK would be considered a radical right winger.

Just wait for the Christie jokes.

Do you think Christie jokes would be worse than Bush jokes (1 and 2), or say, Reagan jokes? And would those jokes sink his very large ship?

BTW, this comes from a (formerly) midwest Norwegian who really likes Big Boy.

It’s a health issue. Framed as such, it makes perfect sense. “Tubbo” or “fatso” jokes don’t rise to the level of substantive discourse.

I believe he’s not running. But what are the odds he’s on the GOP nominee’s short list of VP candidates? 100%. What are the odds he’s the TOP name on that list? 100%. He has said he won’t be anyone’s VP, but we’ll have to see about that.

Dear ken5050,

I don't know whether or not Gov. Christie has decided once and for all not to run. He may wake up some time in June or July and discover that, yes, he's learned enough to run for president! There has been some mention (now denied, as far as I can tell) of an exploratory committee.

The guy sounds refreshingly forthright to me: I know I can make a good run of it, even win. I know what the path is, how to get there. It's doable. The question is - am I ready for the job? Having incompetent presidents isn't so good for the country, even if they're conservative.

Sounds very sensible to me.

It's one thing to rule out a few candidates as being too liberal, it's something else to rule out everybody except one or two fringe candidates.

There is another way to look at this situation. Don't you think we're going through a phase where the old RINOs are being weeded out but are still in the media limelight, intermediate candidates like Christie are being evaluated but falling short of "true conservative" status, and true conservatives are, grudgingly, just barely beginning to get any media coverage at all but ARE starting to to get some because we conservatives and Tea Party members are demanding it and driving the demand?

Timing is everything and once the real races start and outlier conservatives start announcing their candidacies they will get more scrutiny and more name recognition. At least I think so.

Does he, or is he trying to have it both ways—claiming to be an unscripted term finisher (though note he never refers to actually finishing his term) unlike Gov. Palin, while going on all the national shows and flirting like crazy with the idea of his running for president. I wouldn’t put it past him to declare his new-felt “readiness” by September.

Christie is getting attention because a LOT people are starving for honest, blunt, competent leaders that put the taxpayers first.

I actually don't think he's running. Google “Todd Christie”. There are too many skeletons in the Christie closet. He may have been able to squelch the story in the NJ election but IT WILL come out in a nat’l.

Find me someone with Christie’s chutzpah with the following:

-not an enemy of the 2nd Amendment
-not a believer of climate change / legislation
-not a fan of amnesty for illegals
-finds everything wrong with the Ground Zero mosque, and only appoints constitutionalists to the Judiciary.

WHO? - That is our next president!
