Children 'blow themselves up' in suicide bomber game

A video believed to feature Pashtun school children in south-east Afghanistan recreating a terrorist attack has been posted on social networking sites. The 84-second clip appears to show a veiled boy bid farewell to his friends before approaching a group of children nearby and blowing himself up. Sand is tossed in the air to simulate the detonation as children fall to the ground. As the dust settles, their playmates gather round and pretend to identify the dead.

I appreciate the apology. I can assure you I did not post anything intending to be inflammatory about anything. From your comments it sounds like you assumed I was talking about children getting killed playing with mines that NATO forces planted. Am I right or off base there? Actually the mines all over Afghanistan are planted by the Taliban and many are left from the Soviets. The Afghans practice demining and we support them. Many Afghans do recognize we are there on their side and do appreciate this. I’m sorry you don’t believe me about the news story of the children dying when UXD finally explodes. I saw several stories just like it. You would be surprised at what does not get reported outside of Afghanistan or Pakistan for that matter. They don’t have a lot of media like radio, newspapers and TV. What they do have a lot of times had to be translated from Dari or Pashtu. There are so many stories of children suffering horrible conditions. After a while it really got to me when I was deployed there. Some of the scenes I saw there were the worst I’d ever seen in my life and I can never get those images out of my mind. I think of my own children and am thankful how good we have it in the USA.
