Second, that team Palin will be looking for folks who have thus to date considered 2nd rank, oddball or outsider operatives who do not value the old rules and the game as it has been defined thus far. This doesn't mean that you can't be experienced, but it means you need to be willing to operate in a new world.

Yeager said it: The rules are for people who aren't willing to make up their own. (We're talking man's aribtrary rules, and of fashion and seemliness, not God's moral rules). One of the things I'm amazed more people don't see is that Palin has pioneered a new medium that baffles me ... but I'm a 20th century hermit. I wouldn't know an i-pod if I tripped on one. It's a new world. Palin's the first to dive in as a political warrior. She makes Romney look like an old plastic uncle trying to be "hip."

Palin needs folks who are not wedded to maintaining this status quo. Folks like Governor Walker who said he was going to restore fiscal sanity and even do that if it hurts and was unpopular with some of the chattering class. Palin locked GOP corrupt bastards in jail without blinking an eye and there are corrupt bastards in Washington willing to do almost anything to resist a real house cleaning.

That's a point I don't always remember, but if her book is accurate, it's true -- she did get Alaska GOP corrupt wankers tossed and prosecuted. That takes a certain kind of person to do that. A person who kicks ass and takes names.

Personally, on a gut level, I am convinced that the majority of "regular ol' Americans" are prime to connect with Palin in a big way, because Palin is the real thing.

The real thing -- just like a lot of "regular ol' Americans" who also toss the old rules and make new ones in order to stay on the edge. It's a dynamic world; God's rules stay constant, but man's rules are all over the place and a lot of them are destructive.

Palin is willing to break the old rules and move to communicate on a new plane to Americans, and I think there's a lot of evidence that a lot of Americans are yearning for someone who will say, "I stand for the party of 'Get government off our backs, mind its own business, and let us get on with the pursuit and prosperity that's in our bones.'" The GOP should have that "brand" nailed; sadly, decades of RINOs have pissed in the well so much that most Americans figure there's not a dime's worth of difference between the two parties, and it's often hard to argue with them.
