I believe it was John Hagee who said if God doesn’t bring judgment on America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.
It sounds stupid enough that it is reasonable to assume it would be something Hagee would say.
The Bible is a closed book to this bitter old man who clearly loves an imagined fantasy of Israel more than he cares for the Church. He take delight in reminding us of his hate for America and routinely make Rev Jeremiah Wright look like a patriot in comparison.
This statement looks to be when one of those gems that demonstrates his own insanity. He often rails against orthodox Christianity, substituting his own carnival view of Scriptures, particularly in terms of Eschatology, where he has gone beyond mere Dispensationalism into the realm of Premillennial Dysfunctionalism where everything he says is lunacy.
Lets take this statement here. He routinely condemns any eschatological view other than Dysfunctionalism, and has on many cases called the teachings of our LORD and the apostles on the matter, "damnable heresy", using his brand of Dysfuntionalism as a test of Christianity. This alone should put him in the Church's rubber room. He ironically calls Preterists "Replacementarians" yet here it is plain that he has replaced "Israel" in Ezek 16:48-52 with the United States, once again showing his bigoted "Israel can do no wrong" and the "United States can do no right" template - changing Scripture to suite his disturbed state of mind.
He again demonstrates his disdain and contempt for the Church because it is clear that he believes that the Church has no one righteous within her. Where do we hear about the sins of Sodom? In Genesis 18-19 where God said that he would spare Sodom for the sake of ten. In this statement attributed to Hagee, it is clear that Hagee doesn't believe there are even ten Righteous people in the United States - that or he has such a hatred for the United States that he desperately hopes God will incinerate both the just and unjust to satisfy Hagee's blood lust.
I'll take J-Wrights "chickens have come home to roost" over Hagee's desire that God destroys the greatest nation for good that has ever existed.

I've heard from someone I consdier a reliable source that a prominent US Cardinal said in a closed meeting that he expects in another decade the true Catholic Church will driven underground while the government approved version remains above ground. Sort of like China.
