Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee came out in defense of President Barack Obama and his professed Christian faith on Thursday.
During a press briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Huckabee criticized the debates over Obama's religion and birthplace as "useless" and "unnecessary."
"I know for some people that is an obsession but it's not with me," said the Southern Baptist.
With rare public appearances at churches on Sundays and a smaller percentage of Americans (34 percent, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life) who believe the president is a Christian, debate continues to loom over Obama's faith.
Weighing in on the debate, Huckabee stated, "He has personally articulated not once, but numerous times of his Christian faith. I take him at his word. I have no reason not to.

I am quickly getting my fill of Fox News. I am really sad to say that. I used to set all public televisions to Fox News when they were still just a fraction of CNN’s viewership.
We need a conservative cable news station.
So the Huck thinks everybody tells the truth. He has never met a liar I guess. Huck is a joke. Simple as that. A joke just like Slick Willie was.
We really need to determine why so many, freepers included, are defending this man. Surely they can’t all be part of “the plan” can they? Scares me.
His message is don’t sweat the small stuff.
* The only legislation Mr. Obama was passionate about while he was in the Illinois legislature was supporting Abortion - early, late ... all kinds. Other than that, he sat on his hands and voted present.
* 20 year membership in a 'church' that could only be described as a den of blasphemy. The focus of this 'church' was on race - and not Christ (which focus on HIM would lead to repentance of our own sins and forgiveness of others)
* Support for the homosexual agenda.

Huckabee isn’t even a candidate yet and already he is following McCains lead ,when he said Obama was absolutely qualified to be President.

Debating any politicians faith is a losing proposition and is totally unnecessary in the case of Obama.
"You shall know them by their fruits". This is what's important. I don't care if Obama went to church every week and studied the bible every night. It's his actions that condemn him. If he governed like Ronald Reagan, I wouldn't care if he was an atheist.
